I should really know better.

Lately I've been wasting time at a site called futurerocklegends.com. It's an unaffiliated site that deals with all things Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and is mostly stats-head stuff. But of course, there are discussion boards, and that's never good.

Admittedly, most of the people are fine, although there are (in the wise words of Flight of the Conchords) too many dicks on the dancefloor. But a sad percentage of the regular posters are diehard rockists in their 50s who hate rap and hip-hop and like to spew about how the induction of acts like Public Enemy, NWA, Tupac, and Biggie represents the collapse of categories, if not civilization.

So when it comes time to discuss perceived snubs, don't even get these fossils started on Kraftwerk. "Oh? Electronic music would not have been possible without them, to say nothing of hip-hop? Well now I know who'll I'll use my time machine to kill instead of Baby Hitler," etc.

I can't believe these people still exist.

Also, no matter how popular and influential you have been, if you didn't repeatedly top the charts in the good ol' US of A, you are nothing. "Heineken? Fuck that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon!" Except it's Kate Bush and REO Speedwagon.

We deserve Covid. We really do.
