So folks are quitting this Patreon, not exactly in "droves," but with enough regularity to make me think perhaps a change might be in order. My own priorities, as far as movie watching and writing are concerned, may not be 100% conducive to a satisfactory reading experience for the subscriber, and this is something I could always use some feedback on.

For instance, it's just past "midterm," the midpoint of 2019, and I am feeling like I haven't seen enough new films from the festival circuit. I have several titles from Cannes and Berlin queued up, but then, maybe I should focus my energy elsewhere, on titles that other folks are actually seeing? There are certainly a number of commercial releases (films from the 2018 festival circuit) that I still need to catch up with.

But then, tonight I decided to start watching the mammoth, 14-hour-plus Argentine megalith La Flor, which will undoubtedly take me at least a week, maybe more. That could bring activity here to a virtual halt (unless I decided to write about La Flor in parts, which I am considering). Just like last week, when I did not post very much (or watch many movies) because I was binge-watching the final season of Jessica Jones. (I don't write about TV.)

So I guess the point is this. I see Obscure Alternatives as a kind of negotiation between my "native" viewing habits and the interests and desires of the subscriber base. I could conduct more polls, I suppose. Or just take more requests. Or just assume that everything is fine, and folks are dropping the subscription due to unrelated financial issues, which is always a distinct possibility. In any case, I welcome any and all feedback.
