Gone

I know you didn’t mean to go,

And leave me hanged by vertigo,

Shipwrecked in the undertow,

Face, impasto indigo.

I hope you know I held on tight,

To keep you here, to stay the fight,

My biggest failure, sorry plight,

I could not win. Hard as I tried.

Though my body’s numb and tired and carries no more tears,

I feel your warmth against my skin; We speak in atmosphere.

This month's theme is "GONE".

What does it mean to lose someone? Where do they go? How do we continue on facing the permanence of what once was suddenly no longer existing? The helplessness of bearing witness?

This might feel like a somber topic for the summer months, but I love to discuss this topic to try to get perspectives from different people and cultures.

This Motion Picture was created as a part of the grieving process and is a tribute to a very important part of my life who is now Gone but will always remain, permanently etched in my soul. 🧡

Thank you for your support, Beastlings, and I hope you love this poem and video.

Directed and produced with the wonderful Sascha Gerstner.
