Hi everyone!
Another quick update: today I released AltStore 1.4 beta 6, which adds support for refreshing apps with Siri and the Shortcuts app. This has been a long-requested feature, and now that iOS 14 no longer requires apps to have a separate app extension (and thus use up an extra App ID) just for Siri/Shortcuts support, it finally made sense to add it 🎉
Of course, there's another major reason for adding this feature now: iOS 14 now lets you schedule Shortcuts Automations to run at certain times without user confirmation. This means you can manually schedule AltStore to consistently refresh your apps in the background at any time you desire — not just whenever iOS feels like it. Scheduling refreshes with Shortcuts Automations should dramatically improve the reliability of AltStore's background refreshing, so I highly encourage you to try it out 😄
On a separate note, I've also almost finished working on a new AltServer update for Big Sur that doesn't require you to disable System Integrity Protection. There are still some kinks to work out, but if you're already running Big Sur and don't want to disable SIP (or are having issues with the current Big Sur AltServer beta even with SIP disabled), I've attached a new version of the AltServer Mail plug-in that should work on Big Sur. To test it out:
1) Download AltServer 1.3.3 beta 2 from https://altstore.io/altserver/beta/
2) Launch AltServer 1.3.3 beta 2, and make sure Mail plug-in is installed.
3) Download AltPlugin.mailbundle from this post and copy to /Library/Mail/Bundles/AltPlugin.mailbundle
4) Re-launch Mail.app
Once you've installed this new plug-in, AltServer should resume working as before! As for AltStore, I plan to release another beta in the next week or so with support for iOS 14 Home Screen widgets — so make sure to stay tuned for that 🙂
