Hi everyone, welcome to August! It's weird that it's August already, partially because here in AZ, the "fall" semester and back to school season starts in August, so to me, I think of August as "the end of the summer" (even though it's still hotter than the devil's breath here).
Me: I can't believe the summer is over!
Outside: Try me, bitch 🔫
Anyway, just popping in to reiterate that I plan to get things back to their regular schedule this month! That means the monthly goodie, the alpha build update, the author Q&A, mailing out merch, the beginning of the next serial short story, and everything else!
(Speaking of the next short story, I am still brainstorming ideas on what I could feasibly turn into a serial without running into a brick wall down the road, so the poll to vote on what I should write next will come later this week!)
As for right now, let's kick things off with a quick little poll on a topic I've been vaguely curious about! I've seen chatter here and there that some people dislike IF/text games having big file sizes, especially if you're playing on mobile, since that takes up space on the phone. Big file sizes usually come from a game having lots of images or sound files--both of which we are accumulating with ShoH! So that got me thinking...
What's more important to you? Having as slim and manageable a "package" as possible with your ChoiceScript products (less than 1 MB for most games), or having sounds and images (maps, codex entry stuff, character cards) bundled in, even if that inflates the file size? (If slimmed down, the miscellaneous material would be made available online on the ShoH website, instead!)
This is literally such a minor concern on my end, but something I'm very curious to hear others' thoughts about!
