ShoH Update and Sneak Peek (Patreon)

Hi there everyone, I hope your May has gotten off to a fantastic start!

My update for this week:

As usual when I've put out a big alpha update, I tend to have a "cooldown period" immediately after where I quietly work on other aspects of the game, to give my brain a break and time to incubate the next steps for the main plot. So this week I've been working on doing some housecleaning (in regards to the codex, newspaper, and glossary), adding some new documents (like an overview of the Shepherds' jurisdiction vs. the Inquisitors vs. the Vice Guard), as well as incorporating some of your feedback to the alpha update!

This includes putting in a shop in the day off sequence before All Heroes Eve in Chapter 4, so you won't have to restart the game from the beginning if you want to try playthroughs with or without certain items. (Comes a bit late, I know, lol.) I was cracking up because this involves dealing with a shopkeeper who's not Chandry, for better or for worse...

Day off segments with the companions are still not done, content-wise, but selecting the options will give you the same boost to the relevant stat, to keep stat checks consistent!

I also added more stuff for Chandry in the "regular" day of shop just to keep you coming back for more! :P

I'll probably go back to writing the main chapter in the next week or so, but until then, you might have seen some Shepherds of Haven fan events going on for May! I'll outline them below in case you feel like participating! ❤

1) Lovelace Day

 What is it?

Lovelace Day is a holiday in Blest, and an event that you’ll be able to experience in the game. It’s essentially Blest’s version of Valentine’s Day, a spring holiday meant to celebrate love (of all kinds), joy, and romance. In the game, you can make an offering to the goddess of love, Hina, out of lace, in an effort for your romance to go well; there will be a dance, and you can even buy a poesy ring for someone you like!

In the real world, Lovelace Day takes place right around this time of year, so we’re kicking off a casual event to celebrate and get in the spirit of things, especially as a way to connect fans and creators with each other and just have fun as a community! We hope to do similar events throughout the year for other Blest holidays, as well!

How does it work?

@rose-court  (and I helped) developed this fun generator that gives you a scenario of your first kiss with your RO. We’re releasing it in celebration of Lovelace Day!

(You may have to try a few times to get the result and RO you’re looking for!)

If you want to participate in the event, all you have to do is:

1. Use the generator!
2. Make fanart, fanfiction, a moodboard, or anything else that comes to mind based on the prompt/result that you got!
3. Post your piece here in the #lovelace-day channel on our Discord! (You can post the piece itself or a link to it!) And don’t forget to include your generator result for the best effect!
4. Everyone who participates will get a special and shiny new Discord role as a partaker of the holiday.

That’s all! If this sounds like fun to you, we’ll be having the event open throughout the month of May. Feel free to post your Lovelace pieces in the Discord channel as well as anywhere else you like–and if you don’t have the time, enjoy the generator and post your results here anyway! It’s fun and some of the results are hilarious, lol! (You can also just pop in to check the channel, as we've already gotten lots of fanart and fanfiction posted in the first 48 hours of the holiday!)

2) Recruit Form

I made this Shepherds of Haven recruit form for anyone who wants to talk and share information about their OCs, Shepherds, and MCs! It would be really fun if you wanted to fill one out!

Finally, the commissioned character sheet for Red is underway--and I also have a few other commissions in the works to share with you when they're done! :)
