ShoH Update (Feb #1) - Chapter 3 Complete! (Patreon)

...well, as complete as it's going to be for now!

Hi everybody! I hope your first week of February has been off to a great start!

Thanks to your support here on Patreon, I was able to take the last two days off to devote 100% of my energy and concentration on writing ShoH!

As a result, I managed to write about 17,000 words and completed Chapter 3! (Excepting the flavor text for non-Circle Mages when Red is introduced.)

However, for whatever reason, writing it felt like pulling teeth, and it's actually some of the worst writing I've produced in a long time, in my opinion! 

This is not a big deal, as all first drafts tend to feel like this, but I don't feel like the writing is completely presentable at the moment and would like a few more days to refine it some more. So I will most likely be updating the alpha preview next week!

And, if I manage it, maybe I'll have started Chapter 4 as well and will be able to give you the introduction to that in the same update! :) (I also finished the dancing scenes at the gala, Prihine's night of passion, and Riel's birthday, so I was pretty productive overall!)

Chapter 3 capped off at around 41,000 words, which is funny to me because literally every single chapter so far (besides the prologue) has stopped at around 41,000-45,000, lmao. It seems to be the magic number in terms of chapter length... (but that scares the dickens out of me, because Chapter 2 and Chase's route still are not written, so that one might end up being twice as long...)

With this latest addition, the total wordcount (excluding code) for ShoH is 230,000+ words! Crazy!

Again, thank you so much for your support, as I really could not have taken time off from work to work on ShoH and finished Chapter 3 without your help! With the beginning of Chapter 4, we're 30% of the way through the story... which is amazing!

Tonight and this weekend are my anniversary, and next week will be meetings with my editor, publishing staff, and agent here in New York (and Valentine's Day!). So I'll be doing my best to work on ShoH as I continue to take a little time off, but probably won't be online very often to answer any urgent questions! I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, and I'll be back with an alpha update very, very soon! :)
