Or really anything that pops off the page. I've had multiple people ask me about how I do these, so I figured I'd make a post going over the process. The example used here is Christmas Mio I recently did.

First up, draw your drawing.

Then on a separate piece of paper, draw what you want to pop off the page. Often on the main card I draw a smaller set of boobs that fit underneath the expanded pop out parts, but here I just roughed out where I wanted the boobs. Make sure you draw what is possible underneath the boob, just in case it doesn't line up just the way you imagined it.

Then you cut out the boobs, what you use doesn't really matter, but I use a sharp box cutter blade most often because I often have it on hand. Scissors obviously work too.

Here I also cut a bit of the base paper, like a little slot to shove the boob paper into, so the seams between the two pieces of paper look close.

And then here's a look on the flip side.

Then use tape to hold the pieces in place. I recommend something like painters tape, as it is less likely to rip the paper. As the shadow cast by the paper works well in the pop out effect, I use little rolls of tape to create a small space between each sheet.

Rolls of tape are often required to keep the whole piece together, but keeping the rolls thick here helps the bulging out look.

And with that, you have a piece that has a nice 3d effect! The lighting really changes the feel of these drawings, so keep that in mind.

Obviously not all of my pop off sketches were made exactly like this, but this is pretty typical with how I do them nowadays. I often just experiment a bit to see what works and what doesn't. I hope this was helpful, or at least insightful.

Was always curious as to how you made these, the edits seemed so seamless and the 3D effect is really adds to it I think.

the seamlessness of it tends to come mostly from the trick of the lighting. though the overlapping of the cards has helped a ton
