No, you're right Dobby is way more prominent in the book series overall. But because the elves storyline is slightly controversial, audiences find Dobby annoying, and time wise it pretty much got cut. Dobby is throughout the series and often showed up to Hogwarts. Hermione has a whole storyline with him and tries to get slavery ended amongst the elves during the series too. So the emotional tone hurts more. Despite how the whole slavery thing made me feel I do remember while reading the series seeing Dobby grow and be free plus his friendship with the core three was beautiful. So I feel like they kept the emotional weight of Dobby's death more for the people who read the series vs the movie. I do wish we got more of him though even if it was in another capacity but I do understand it's a gray area. In terms of the not wanting to use magic to bury Dobby. Using magic to bury Dobby would have been too impersonal for Harry and his friends. They wanted to pay their respects in a more personal and intimate way, showing their love and appreciation for Dobby. It was a way for them to honor his memory with their own hands.

A few details from the books: 1) Harry used poly juice potion to disguise himself at the wedding. 2) Mundungus was introduced in Order of the Phoenix. He is a thief and con artist that Dumbledore and Mad Eye made help them. He disapparated (disappeared/ran away) when he saw Voldemort. 3) Snape shared information with Voldemort about moving Harry however he used Mundungus to recommend they create the 7 Potters to hide Harry during transport.

Such a great film. Gets unnecessary hate in my opinion. Sets the scene for the last movie......... 👀

In regards to you asking why they don't close hogwarts, when voldemort took over the ministry they made school mandatory and were sending death eaters to homes if the student didn't arrive first day, before Ron leaves they train a ghoul and dress him like Ron to live in his room so if the death eaters check on him they said he had dragon pox, which is highly contagious, in hopes the death eaters wouldn't investigate further.

Y'all should listen to the audio books, there is so much the movie missed. When Hermione and Harry are in godric's hollow at his house where his parents died, the house wasn't rebuilt because it is now a memorial to the boy who lived, aka harry and the sacrifice his parents made. Godric's hollow is primarily a Wizarding community and put a statue of Harry's parents holding baby harry and a plaque there to honor the boy who "defeated voldemort.

Dobby has a bigger role in the books, and you also get to meet other House Elves. Dobby gains more clothes in the books as well, while another part of the book was taken out of the movies. That is that Hermione is an advocate for Elf rights, and she crochets or knits clothes for them and leaves it in places like the kitchen in order to free them. There is another female Elf that was taken out of the movies entirely. Many of the Elves didn't like Dobby because they thought he was disrespecting his role as a House Elf, and they didn't want to be freed. Point is, since Dobby and other House Elves had a bigger part in the books, it was that much sadder when he died.
