You missed the ending line where Dennis asks Mac if he gained weight. That line gets me every time. They all made the joke earlier that the Dennis doll would say Mac looks fat

Some slight context for this: In the gap between S12 ending and S13 starting, The Gang actually did a really good job of making it seem like Glenn truly was leaving the show. He had his new show A.P Bio starting up, and in a couple interviews Glenn mentioned how he was feeling kind of burned out with Sunny and needed some time away. We didn't really get any sort of confirmation that he would be back until just before the season dropped.

He definitely took a step back from the creative side, and they basically filmed all the scenes for him crammed together in a short amount of time so he could squeeze it into his schedule. The season feels a bit disjointed at times because Dennis is often coming and going, and you can tell they were limited in what they could do that would involve him because he couldn't be in anything that was too elaborate. I'm curious when they get to it in on the Podcast the details we'll get, they may have really thought of writing him off and then just figured out a way to squeeze him in anyway.

my least favorite season by far...better keep your expectations low. season 14 and 15 picks back up a bit

You don't need to remember much about 2018. Any references to what's going on then (what's popular, what's happening in society, the country, etc.) will be pretty obvious. Megan Ganz wrote a couple episodes this season (some of the better ones in this season). There were 2 writers who only wrote and worked on the show this season (thankfully).

It's still the worst season, but I think people who had to wait each week for a new episode when it first came out judge it more harshly. You'd have to sit for a whole week angry that the previous episode was bad and hoping that the next one would be at least decent.
