I think the only difference is the cover. I recommend buying a cheap secondhand copy. It reads as well as a new copy and you can save some money.

Philosopher's Stone has more British slang that you may not know than Sorcerer's Stone (the American version) so if you're up for learning new and funny terms, go with the British version. Other than that, maybe stay away from the picture books as this is your first time reading and I always like building my own version of the world in my head rather than what an artist thinks of. Plus they're more expensive. So in all I'd just go with the original version of Philosopher's Stone.

I agree that the British ("Philosopher's Stone") edition is especially preferable for the first book, as the US editors revised away all the British idioms they could find (in addition to thinking that American kids hated philosophers). The author was unknown and they were worried that nobody would buy it as she wrote it. As the series progressed, it became clear that it was an international phenomenon, so they interfered less and it matters less which of the two you buy.

Yeah, I wouldn't put that much thought into it. Just get whatever's cheapest or the cover you like the most. It's all the same on the inside.

Just a heads up man if you have Amazon's kindle unlimited service (if you don't have it get the free trial and then cancel it) the entire Harry Potter series is free to read. Just download the Kindle app to your phone and then enjoy.

Buy the cheapest version or the audio book for a few bucks. Tbh the diffrent versions are mostly for art or covers

That opens up another can of worms, regarding which audiobook narrator is better.

Philosophers stone and sorcerer stone are the same except some of the dialogue is different. Very minor doesn't effect the story lol

Also looking forward to the next Harry Potter movie reaction. Love those films lol. Thanks
