The Gold Standard was when money actually had backing. The US dollar only had value because there was a reserve of gold owned by the US government. Now it isn't backed by anything. The money used by our government technically only exists because we all agree it exists.

There were a LOT of great moments from this season, but thinking it was subpar (compared to the others) isn't as much about Michael being gone as people tend to think. The writing was kinda lazy and off a lot. They recycled jokes from previous seasons. For example, two cold opens were completely ripped off from previous seasons. Andy rejecting a fake call to impress someone sitting in his office and it goes bad (Michael did that trying to impress Ryan and also Jan), and then the office thinking Dwight was dead based on Andy's series of poor wordings of Dwight being "gone" (Michael did the same thing with Meredith being hit by him in the car). Also, a lot of the side quests within episodes were kind of clunkers (like the Jim/Pam spending all the time to craft a text reply to Robert or Andy's band being slowly taken over by Robert and his friends). And then Robert California can just be annoying to watch. Again, there were some fantastic parts to this season, especially involving Dwight (finally seeing some love in the Jim-Dwight relationship, the garden party, the possibility of him having a son, etc. ). It was almost perfectenschlag for his character.

I think they wanted catherine tate originally but she had other work so she came in halfway thru instead? i know lots of ppl hate her, but i love her, find her hilarious, though i did already like her from her work on doctor who before i saw her on the office
