If you want authentic asian cuisine, bring an asian with you who knows their stuff cuz if you order by yourself, you will 80% of the time get Americanized asian food and you won't have the authentic stuff, in fact some of the authentic stuff might not even be on the menu. There are sometimes a separate menu that is not written in English due to lack of translation. I recommend trying out japanese fried tofu and the type of dishes with shiitake mushrooms since they add to the flavor, you might come to like the fried tofu with such flavor. If you like strong spicy food, try Si Chuan (Tse/Tsi/Tse if they don't use Si) cuisine, its one of the few main styles of spicy cuisine in Chinese cooking and its well known for its spicy dishes, about 95% of their dishes are spicy. You might have seen Ma po Tofu dishes, also very spicy but its very popular and famous. Since I come from southern Asian family, I recommend Shanghai Cuisine, just google top dishes and you'll see some examples, but it'll be tricky to cook the dishes unless you know someone who's familiar. If you like noodle soup bowls, I highly recommend Red Braised Beef Noodle Soup bowls. "red braised" sauce is basically soy sauce that has been cooked even further and has deeper flavor. Its one of my personal faves. I recommend the winter melon recipes, usually cooked with pork or chicken, and tender bamboo. Its a popular soup to have during the winter because its very soothing and warms you up in the winter. The winter melon is similar to a cucumber/zuccini and squash mix. The food you thought of while seeing the 'ball' is takoyaki, however Alexia was trying out their sweets, not japanese food. Its a bit unfair but the soybeans are known as edamame which is the japanese name, despite rice and soybeans originating from China. Soybean dishes are quite good as well. I also recommend Flounder fish, and esp Halibut (even if frozen its still good after being steamed/cooked), as its VERY fatty and full of flavor. Some of us Asians love moist and Very tender meat. If you love veggies, there's a bajillion of them to choose from. Yellow Bean sprouts with soy sauce. The baby leaves of snowpeas (Dou Miao), they are more expensive cuz the leaves exist when the plant is young, they're very tender and the stalks are crisp Various regions of China have their own 'specialty' fried rice you can try out, should they be an option on the menus you might see. But yeah your best bet is either the asian grocery market or Chinatown or a good asian restaurant. But the boomers generally know who the good chefs are. That is...if they didn't grow up in the country side....My parents can immediately tell by the looks and ingredients of the stew if the chef made it right or not, as they're from Shanghai.

Its very typical in anime and light novels these days (or in JP really) for young people to avoid religion in general. They avoid it like the plague despite having no issues with animism and praying and having so many damn temples every 50 acres. Their views on what a religious person pretty much boils down to a suicide bomber or a shady organization. Honestly as a Christian its one of the most annoying things to see cuz almost everyone's interpretations on religion is so messed up......
