In the same way you thought all knights are evil when only a few of them were giving Cid a hard time, you apply the same logic toward Cid when he's killing people. Cid killed people who got in his way who were a threat to him. Everyone talks about Cid like he kills people left and right. He does not. Everyone he killed were violent threats, and they generally weren't good people. People get so shocked because they're used to heroes making opponents faint or stay awake with livable injuries, instead of being straight up killed/eliminated. He hasn't killed anyone who was innocent but those who posed a threat to society as well. That would be bandits and those who belong to evil organizations and government and religious organizations. It doesn't matter what 'group' or individual they are. They don't get special treatment. And that's what true justice is. There is no room for mercy for absolute justice. The monster is an exception despite going on a rampage cuz that wasn't their fault.

Keep in mind he's not using 'basic' swordplay for the sake of being basic, like Batman, he uses it to appear as a Hero. Everyone who looked up to heroes can see them doing 'heroic' stances, and that's what the swordplay is based on. Nothing flashy but seemingly heroic and basic. The strength is in the individual, not the swordplay or technique, is what Cid is trying to prove. And that is why people must die. Anyone can die, anyone can lose, anyone can win and be a hero. Though in Cid's case its magic that allows him to realize his fullest potential. Keep in mind he has 'mastered' several martial arts and sword skills in his prior life so all that carries over. He wasn't lucky the place was evacuated, he pulled off an atomic blast 'because' he knew it was evacuated, thanks to the information network from Shadow Garden. Like he said, he wants to make Shadow Garden be known to the world so he sent a message to the DeepState/Underground elites to scare them.
