Finally caught up! Lol was taking me too long . They did get lucky not having to face the strongest team right off the bat, but does suck the captains friends team lost. Not everyone can win only those who worked the hardest win, not to say that those who lost didn’t try. Since you put all this time and effort into something and not having the reward for all that hard work, it feels like a punch in the gut. Since this is volleyball, and not something like shield hero. You can more easily relate to these characters, and you don’t see them as some person that wouldn’t exist in real life. Ikejiri lost motivation, it happens to everyone; but being able to stay motivated can help you stay on track and accomplish what you want to do.

Haikyuu is one of my favorite shows and this is one of my favorite episodes, glad you enjoyed it. With Japanese sports (or at least animes) the teams season is almost always single elimination tournaments, so they train and play training matches with other teams, but the official games are all single elimination brackets. Loved the reaction, glad you enjoyed this episode.
