Don’t know what to talk about, since I hardly know anything about volleyball lol. What I gathered is the king of the court guy is going to be the rival of sho, they are going to be fighting for the same position since we see that guy jumping and spiking the ball. Being tall does have an advantage in volley ball, my cousins were in the volley ball team and they were both over 6 ft. One of them was like 6’4? Lol so she was super tall. Also about the little giant was 190 cm? That’s like 6’2 lol so not short at all lol

I guess the intro has some character spoilers and some other spoilers but I don’t think it matters much with this show. Try to not analyse it 😅 This show is doing a pretty good job explaining the basics of Volleyball but if you have any question just ask. He practices all by himself because he’s alone in the volleyball club. That's what the teacher was telling him. There is no volleyball in his school. How the scoring works is first to win 2 out of 3 sets wins the game.. That the 2 in Yellow in the scoresheet, the set they are at . Each set you need 25 points to win. They have to win by at least 2 points so if it’s 25-24 you still go until one team won by over 2 points. The point where you were confused at 19:35 about. The setter, the one that set the ball, throw the ball into a good position for the spiker to hit, missed his shot. Kagyama said there was no back setting planned. Meaning the setter did not intend to set toward his back since nobody was there to spike, but Shoto ran and almost made the shot. He missed by spiking out of the line. The anime is pretty realistic except Shoto can run faster on the court than most normal human beings, even olympic volleyball players can’t make that shot. That is why Kageyama was so impressed. Shoto is raw talent but he had no team for all his junior high. My interpretation butI think that is why Kageyama asks him what he’s been doing. Wasted potential maybe but then he had no team to build on his potential. Shoto’s team is not a real volleyball team. Shoto got player from other sport to form a team that why they are so bad. Karasuno High School. Crow in Japanese is Karasu so that is where the crow symbolism comes from. And Yes, his idol he watched on TV when he was a kid came from that school. Yes, it's a lot about character development in this show. And the Volleyball is very accurate except in anime so there are some athletic leeway. You got me excited to restart watching Haikyuu. Can’t wait for episode 2. Take Care. 😋

No the little giant was much shorter. The TV annoncer said he was surrounded by 190 cm player, much taller than him and still succeed.

i mean i think you will like this anime, because the characters are great and you will basically know the basics of volleyball by the end of the 1st season. i told my friend in real life who hates the idea of sports animes to watch haikyuu and at the end of the 2nd season he said the anime was dope lol.

kageyama asked what hinata was doing the past 3 years, because middle school is considered to be the best time to develop the basic skills and get acknowledgement from your peers in order to get into a good volleyball high school. he was upset because he saw the potential in hinata.

Trust me, it might be a bit much new info at the start. But the show is very good at giving you more and more knowledge in easy to digest "portions" :) I have a feeling you're going to fall in love with the characters in this show!

Short explanation to the setter role that kageyama had: In volleyball you have up to 3 contacts with the ball. A team usually tries to use these contacts up as followed: 1. Recieve the ball approximately in the direction of your setter. 2. The setter decides which person is in the best position to attack and passes to him/her. 3. Attack / try to score the ball. So the setter is the only person that should get into ball contact each rotation, the others are more situation dependend. (Of course it won't always work clean like that and there are temporary strategic exceptions).

Hi, stumbled across your Haikyuu ep 1 reaction on youtube and subbed to your patreon because Hype-kyu fucking rules. The Little Giant was on Karasuno's team before Hinata started Middle School, so by the time Hinata joins Karasuno High, he would have long since graduated.
