With one episode until the midseason break, please consider reacting to the slime diaries. It is such a wholesome (and yes, canon) slice of life that fleshes out the town and some of the lesser explored characters/relationships.

The reason his voice and demeanor was different at the end was because "Rimuru" was totally asleep so Great Sage (now Raphael) acted on its own thats why his eyes were red kinda like when great sage took over fighting the orc lord in season 1. They made a bigger deal of it in the manga because his skill basically gained its own free will when it evolved.

That was the greatest reaction when the “captain”(I don’t know his real title nor name) of the guard went out and got killed immediately at the beginning after he talked to the King.🤣 The king is such a bitch He started the whole thing then willing to use his own people as human shields.
