So just wanted to add some context the anime misses. Geese got captured on purpose because he heard Rudy had been captured and wanted to make sure Rudy and Paul got reunited. The reason Paul acted shocked in the end was because he didn't know Geese had been actively searching for his family and managed to bring one of them back. Just some extra info.

the significance of that ending is a bit confusing. paul was surprised to hear that geese is also looking for pauls family. paul slapping his face was a sign of him slapping some sense into himself and not giving up on finding his family, because he gave up on even thinking any of his family has been alive until he met rudy and drowned himself in alcohol. so now hes like i got a new motivation now and going to work harder to find the rest of them

also 2 things that the anime left out is 1. the explanation as to why that girl in pauls group is half naked. the reason is because her sister the quiet one suffers from trauma whenever someone looks at her so she wears that outfit so she stands out and people stare at her instead. 2. when paul and rudy were talking before eris and ruijerd came back paul was mentioning how he hasn't slept with a woman since the mana disaster.

Great reaction, I see where you're coming from, pretending that stuff didn’t happen never works. But I also see that you got it afterward. It’s more like let's start over then they can really talk. It starts up with a misunderstanding on both parts. Maybe more of a different perspective is more accurate. Rudy was leaving before the barman gave him the drink. He sees that the situation has gotten to a point where it’s not going to get resolved as it should so he wants to start over and they did talk about it afterward. With Justin's comment above. I think the scene at the end means that his father realised there are people searching for his family and he is still there drunk everyday. From the flashback at the very beginning. He came to this village early but then stayed there. We see that he became worse and started to escape into drinking. So the other people in his crew helped find people and were doing something while he was drinking all day. I’m just guessing here. So my guess is Geese just finish searching in huge regions and then continue on to the next. So my guess is Paul decided that he should stop drinking all day and start to search. But I’m an anime only and we know very little about what he’s been doing so all we see is that he is drunk and his crew does the rescuing. I hope that your relationship with your father gets better. You said he changed a bit. It’s hard for people to change, it takes years and a lot of things to happen. 😩 No matter how many times I rewrote this I feel like Eris butting my head where I don’t belong. In a relationship I know nothing about. 😔 But like Eris I do care. So I want to keep the comment there. Take care 🤗
