Hey I just wanted to add a little extra about the scene with Shin holding the gun to the other people The scene with shin and the gun is this: the federacy uses autonomous drones piloted remotely by a person for scouting, Shin basically walked into the room and told a pilot to send his drone WAY out of normal scouting routes but he wouldn't do that so Shin put a gun to his head and forced him to do it, this is why the federacy caught wind of the large scale offensive so early and was able to deploy in time before the Western theater completely collapsed. Also I wanna share a quote from the book when the legion showed up cause it always gives me chills "Thier field of vision, the entire mountain range that made up the horizon turned the color of cold steel. It was like witnessing the moment a tidal wave rose. The countless shadows crossed the ridges, like the instant the sea parted and the destructive wave rushed down upon them. We are legion, for we are many." 86 vol 2 pg 183

Lena's points may not be very strong, but it still is about the best option they have, even if they don't care for the 86: They can either let the Legion rampage through the country & have everyone's brains harvested for sure...or at least TRY to fight & worry about how to deal with the 86 within their country afterwards IF they survive.

Also have to agree with Lex' statement - especially after that book quote - that, without plot armor, there's no way they could have pushed back such a HUGE number (at least not without some kind of chokepoint to limit their numbers advantage) no matter how good their squad is - Quantity has a quality all its own

I was looking through book 2 and I found another quote that perfectly describes how the federacy sees the 86 "They weren't innocent children wounded by persecution. The soldiers could see them only as monsters. Machines of slaughter, bred in the republics crucible of hatred and violence. Demons of War that rejected all salvation and compassion, born as man and twisted into beast through no fault of their own. Their warped hearts were beyond saving." 86 vol 2 pg 203

I also like how you mention they have the technology to match their skills so I thought I'd give more detail about that -So for starters they upgraded the republic juggernauts from a 57mm to an 88mm smoothbore cannon, also has better shock absorbers, flame repellent flight suits that are also designed to protect the pilot from fatiguecaused by the reginleifs high maneuverability, a properly sealed cockpit, etc. They are also capable of firing many different types of ammunition. -Shin: Undertaker: 88mm smoothbore cannon, 2 high-frequency blades, wire anchors, and 57mm piledrivers equipped on each of the reginliefs legs -Raiden: Werewolf: exchanges main cannon for an auto cannon with rapid reload and heavy machine guns to support Shin since he's always in the thick of it with him -Kurena: Gunslinger: true to her name of gunslinger she's an excellent shot so she exchanges her main gun for an extra long barreled 88mm cannon for long distance sniping, she also has a headset that displays things like wind speed and direction -Anju: Snow Witch: exchanges main gun for a multi-rocket launch pad for area suppression to support the vanguard -Theo: Laughing Fox: 88mm smoothbore cannon, 57mm pile drivers on each leg, wire anchors, and most notable attribute are the grappling hooks since he's an expert at 3D maneuvers

I love the attention the studio puts into the scenes. Look at Lena's uncle, his boot and gun are worn down and damaged. He was once just like them, a proud soldier and a man with ideals. It's a shame you either die a hero like Lena's father or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Oh well it's not like he can do anything to change the status quo anyway, even he is merely a bystander trapped in the flow And also he's right about one thing, anyone who knows enough history knows it'd be lucky if it was only a massacre, but it could very much be slavery and humiliation, just like what the Republic did to the 86. Like Eldia and Marley in attack on titan, just a never-ending cycle of hatred. This is why he preferred having the republic perish, just like Zeke Jeager wanted Eldia to end.

I’m glad you could enjoy the episode. Don’t worry about being a bit groggy at the start. We loved messy Lexie. You’re all good. I’m glad you could laugh a bit at the very end at 35:30, that was super cute.🥰 It’s interesting that he told his friend, the one he woke up, not to contact him during the battles. It’s the worst he felt. 🤔. Is that related to how he was during the battles? Is it all that feedback that made him like a craze fighter enjoying destruction? Just a thought. I like that Shin doesn't have time for shit at the beginning. Pull a gun and wake up the whole army. No time for protocol, chain of command or any of that BS. They have to act now or they will lose. It contrasts with the Republic of San Magnolia. The Legions have already breached district 85. They are here. It’s not the best time to be political and scheming and worry too much about a future that might never happen the way things are going. Lena’s uncle said it’s time to crush Lena’s dream but the way I see it, it’s the republic dream that is about to be crushed. They worry about what the 86 will do once inside the wall. They are trying to protect what little control they have over the hierarchy, them at the top and the 86 at the very bottom. But with the Legions in, how do they expect to defend with an army in which many are drunk and haven't fought a real war for years with “Zero” casualties. If they keep the 86 out of the fight the republic will fall. My memory is not the greatest with earlier episodes but when Lena asks why the 86 fight? What was their answer. I really don’t remember. They were born there, they want to protect people, they rather die fighting? Sorry My memory is bad but the same reason the 86 will fight the legions now that they are inside. They might be tempted to topple the government but Like I said first it’s already dead if they don’t do anything. So might as well save the people that we can. The republic has a messed up society but if you keep repeating day in and day out. It’s drones, they are not human with no casualties, the mass will go with the flow. I’m not sure how to approach the next subject but here goes nothing. Some recent events in the news made me realise that they are bad situations where many people knew it was wrong and yet nobody talks, nobody does anything about it. It’s not their problem, they don’t want to get involved, they can’t do anything. Somebody else will take care of it. I think a lot of the San Magnolia citizens know it’s wrong. Like Lena’s friend the scientist. In the end she did help. Littles things matter, sometimes it might save life, physically but also mentally. Yes communication is key, sometimes just a bit can change a lot. Ok let's get back to anime and more fun stuff. It’s fun that they use rope and hook it immediately made me think of Attack on Titan with the rope. It’s good they have technologies. San Magnolia technology is unused and rusting. In an earlier episode they ask for support bombardment and we learn that half of the guns don’t work and are dud since they have never been used. It goes back to my opinion of Lena's uncle's position. They are screwed without the 86. At least try to save what you can. I think it’s magnificent how they did the Frederica/Shin scene. Frederica seeing shin have a craze in an almost destroyed vehicle, amazing scene. And the cliffhanger at the end. My first reaction was shock but after a bit, I’m suspicious of anime cliffhangers. Sometimes they make it more dramatic than it is for the sake of a cliffhanger. Well we will see next episode. Take Care

I finally caught up. This has taught me I need to actually watch more anime again. I never would have paid attention to this one if you weren’t watching it, and it’s been so interesting. Not going to lie, though, I really wish I caught up later. Leaving the episode like that should be illegal. Almost worse than seeing Fido broken down and the ambiguous body that made it seem like Shin died. This studio be playing with people’s emotions.
