San Magnolia reminds me of Holy Britannian Empire from Code Geass. However, I can at least respect Britannian's code of honor and their strength even if they were a group of fascists. San Magnolia, on the other hand, is just a bunch of ignorant frauds living in a cage not knowing their end is near.

really like the topic they bring up - what do you do when all you've known is war? I don't have personal experience, but heard plenty of times that veterans with PTSD have lots of problems to re-integrate into society after retiring...and that's grown men who had a normal childhood & chose to join the military as grown-ups, not child soldiers... But I'm really curious about the Republic; like why they are so interrested in their Equipment & experience - how did the Republic fight Legion the whole time? & how much about the Legion do they know, since the Empire before them build the Legion, they should know way more than anyone else.

I’m caught up! I was a little worried that shin was gonna be in some sort of simulation to like break his mind for the legion or something. But then they started giving Ernst his own scenes so I think it’s all real now.

I finally caught up 🥳. They did get us good with the first part where we get to meet a new team. I like the red streak in Lena's hair. And yes Rei is Shin’s Brother. Ok, I have a lot to say. Sorry for the long post 🙏 but we have a whole season 1 to cover 😅 The San Magnolia news pissed me off with the zero causality, a small part of me want that some of the legion get tru to make them realize that we are in a war. Next is just the way I interpret things so I may be wrong. In episode 8, when Lena was arguing with the colonel about the will of the republic, Lena said that what they are doing can’t be the will of the republic. The Colonel replied, “It’s a country full of fools and villains, who executed Saint Magnolia for the sake of their own wealth and greed. What can you expect of them? Humans are not ready for freedom.” So I think the people in power of the republic kill their own Saint, not the legion. They kill her because of her ideals represented by the flag: freedom, equality, brotherhood, justice, and nobility. I always thought that they were a bunch of hypocrites. San Magnolia is so far from the ideals of the flag. The people in power had to get rid of the Saint to create this society, I don’t think Saint Magnolia would have let them otherwise because it is so far from what the flag represents. The Colonel also said that not many know the truth. To them it’s all drone fight with zero causality. They have to get rid of the 86 otherwise they will look bad. I think the majority of people are decent however not many know about the 86 and those who know all keep silence. You see it with her scientist friend, I believe there are much more people like her that know what is happening but decide to turn a blind eye because they don’t believe they can change anything. I also thought about AOT, you have a nation surrounded by enemies and they don’t know what is on the outside, they are other people on the outside. Now onto the Giadian people. They did say Shin and crew were the first foreigners to visit since the founding of the Giad Federation. They let them stay in the compound/hopital for more than a month. So they just released the 86 stories to the Giadian public when they found them. That is when the Save the 86 movement started happening. Next is pure speculation so again I may be wrong. I find the President a bit sus when we first meet him. I think he was deeply involved in the previous empire. He take care of the princess. I believe he has a lot to atone. That is why he is trying to do this with the 86. I don’t think you can overthrow an empire from the inside without getting deeply involved and closed to the one in power. So I believe he’s done bad things in the past and is trying to create this ideal federation now. But I may be completely wrong. I’m so happy I caught up and can watch the rest of the series with you AP. 🥰
