First correction, they do know that Killua took Illumi's needle out. His grandpa could tell when they met at the palace after Meruem left with Netero. He then passes on this info to Killua's dad. His dad wanted to use the needle on Killua because he doesn't think like the rest of the family does. Now for Alluka's ability, It is very complicated but I'll try to break it down as simple but detailed as I can. 1) Alluka has to know the name of the person before she can make any requests of them. 2) Once Alluka starts making requests of 1 person, Alluka can not start making requests of anyone else until the requests are fulfilled, that person fails 4 requests, or dies. 3) If you fulfill 3 of Alluka's requests BEFORE you fail 4, her eyes will turn black and she will grant a wish. After granting the wish, her eyes will turn white(back to normal). 4) The same person can't make 2 wishes in a row. 5) If you fail 4 requests BEFORE fulfilling 3, the MINIMUM consequence is you and your most loved one will die. If there is more than 2, any person(s) that will die after that is people you spent the most time with. 6) The difficulty of the next requests will depend on how big the last wish was. For the millionaire wish, the requests after were to give them their liver, duodenum(first part of the intestine), spine, and then the brain. 7) There are 2 ways to reset the difficulty of requests. 1) You need to either fulfill the requests and ask for a very small wish (no consequences) or 2) Fail 4 requests or just die. (At minimum, your most loved one will die as well) 8) If Alluka wants to heal something, Alluka needs to be touching it. You already caught on to this but this is why he made that threat to his mother so that he could leave the mountain. He needs to reach Gon with Alluka to be able to heal him. I believe that is all we know for now. Just remember, Killua did bring up that there are rules that the family doesn't know about.

Yeah, only Milluki was unaware of the needle. Silva was told by Zeno after he spoke with Killua before Gon's rage scene with Pitou. An example of how the rules would work for Alluka is if you fulfill 2 requests then only 1 more is needed (3 total) for a wish. But if you fail to fulfill 4 requests then the result is death (whether or not you fulfilled 1 or 2 or no requests beforehand).

Yeah, Alluka is trans. Also, Illumi's needles have been shown to either 1) control a person while harming them or 2) affecting their emotional state. For Killua, the needle just made sure that if he was afraid of someone his fear would be magnified so he would rely on his assassin training -- if it were just controlling him directly (a la Shalnark's nen phone) then he would be unable to resist commands (in the HxH databook this ability of Illumi's is called "hypnotic spell"). Recall Kurapika in the exam saying Illumi may have used "hypnosis" on Killua before they even knew of nen -- and he added that it was only effective on Killua because he had "no moral or psychological objections" to killing in general and so he could only resist the needle when questioning his assassin instincts due to developing as a person around Gon's influence.

I like how Alluka proposed they play "Shiritori" since that's how the Zoldyck children are named (which the fans speculated was the case in 1999 and here Togashi is winking at them saying they were right lol). In this game one person says a word and another says a word that starts with the last syllable of the prior word. Applied to the Zoldyck children from oldest to youngest: I-llu-mi > Mi-llu-ki > Ki-llu-a > A-llu-ka > Ka-llu-to Also, notice how she is the 4th child and 4 failed requests result in deaths. 4 is an unlucky number associated with death in Eastern cultures, similar to the number 13. Hisoka was the number 4 of the troupe, a killer and a traitor, Kurapika was born 4/4, his clan was wiped out. The names are also verbs. “Illumi” means “to exist” (as a person). “Milluki” means “to watch” (likely relating to his passive lifestyle watching computer screens). “Killua” means “to kill.” "Alluka" means "to exist" (as an object).* “Kalluto” means “to cut” (she used pieces of paper to cut up the ants in meteor city). Remember that the theme of objectification has been consistently on display in much of the show: Neon as a way to gain power in the mafia, secretaries as sex objects for Bizeff, Kite as Pitou's plaything to test her strength, Palm as a tool for Knov on hunter missions, Komugi as Gungi champion for a dictatorship and provider for her family, Meruem as a source of purpose by Pouf.

Forgot to mention the black-eyed Alluka's name is "Something" or rather the Japanese word: "Nanika." In other words, "Alluka" is the verb referring to "a thing existing" and "Nanika" is the noun referring to "some thing."

Kikyo cares about Killua being the ideal assassin more than her life itself, that is what she sees as her purpose. Similar to the ant Queen only caring that Meruem was born without defect (so as to be a perfect/ideal king) despite being born sooner than expected. Gon freeing Killua from his family's ideals is mirrored in Komugi freeing Meruem from his species' ideals.

Something that important that you may have missed Killua said when his sister call him Oni-Chan (Brother) She is the real Alluka. When she calls him Killua it is the wish granting "Nanika"(something) that is talking. Many people miss it. It will be elaborate more in the future. But if you replay this episode with that in mind it explains a lot of confusing stuff about this episode request. All these rules and info dump can be confusing. Everyone can be confused the first time watching. Even more so, Killua said his family doesn't know all the rules 😉. Keep that in mind there are secret rules that his family don't know about so it is even more confusing on top of the known rules. 😝 don't call yourself an idiot 😋. Cheers

Great reaction as always. Others have already mentioned my extra thoughts and the rules for Alluka's power; so ill leave it at that. :D I enjoyed these episodes, but the power is very complex and a lot of chatting in this arc to get your head around!

I'm watching this for the first time and I have to say that I find her power probably the most intriguing one so far! And I somehow really enjoy learning all the rules that are conected to it🤔😅 But it really seems to be very intricate and as soon as you miss any little detail I suddenly doesn't seem to make to much sense anymore🙈....so she really shouldn't feel bad about not getting all of it immediately!

RJIA

When you were like "I shouldn't call anyone psycho" I was just literally like "Bruh!" out loud. I think this time it fits lol. The Zoldycks are all sorts of messed up. I guess maybe psycho might not be the right word, but they're just the worst.

RJIA

I'm not a fan of one thing about this translation... "Something" is just what Killua calls what Alluka turns into when her eyes turn black. It's important to know what it means at least once, I guess, but most other translations I've seen have it like it's a proper name and put the actual word you hear him say, "Nanika". Maybe it might be easy to get used to, but having a normal word like that seems more confusing to me. Most fans just say Nanika.

Lobos625

Something is what killua calls the black eyed version of alluka.

Killua's going to ask to save Gon, and then grant her next 3 requests after that so the burden won't be put on a future person, just in case that was confusing, which it is

coolkid558

For clarification, Illumi didn’t put a needle in Alluka’s head. He used that butler to test how the wishes Alluka made was affected by the wish Alluka granted. The reason they talk so much about her eyes changing colors is because that’s the best way they can describe her ability. I know everything being thrown at you can be confusing, but I think you have a grasp of what’s important, and they make it clear what you really have to remember as the show goes on. Great reaction as always.

Just so you know the Zoldyck family does love Killua they're not "faking" their love for him; the thing is that they love him in a very twisted and extremely unordinary way due to their line of work and how the family has been orchestrated throughout it's lineage.

JD

I just thought of something. If Killua cares about Alluka the most, does that mean, if he failed to fulfil Nanika's requests, would Alluka die?
