What a nice Saturday morning surprise :D

IAmABacon

About Gon getting a boost from his emotions - it's the same for every Nen user. During Kurapika's power explanations, it's said that Nen is directly affected by your resolve. So more resolve = more power. I think that's why the 'covenants' make a big power boost, as it's proof of your resolve. Like Kura's chain jail being so powerful against spiders, as he's willing to die if he uses them for anything else.

Christopher Rivera

Yeah, it’s also why before the exam tournament Netero asked each of them why they wanted a hunter’s license. Gon had a strong reason and Killua was just bored, so Gon had more matches/chances to win and Killua didn’t understand why Gon was considered to have more potential. Finding meaning in what you do strengthens your motivation (something emotions reflect) and nen is just an extension of one’s spirit. Nen is “mindforce” or “willpower” and is affected by emotional state. Kurapika’s teacher explained this can boost nen but will strain the user (thus why Kurapika looked exhausted at the end of York New).

IAmABacon

Good reaction. Your reaction to the Phantom Troupe was much like mine. I never expected to see them for the rest of the anime; and I was really happy to finally see their powers.

*No Spoiler* Quick clarification: The nen power to control people body is Pitou powers, not Poufs. So who's controlling Kite and Diego body is Pitou. That scene where Pouf is playing the violin may have made this confusion as it appears to have a lot of focus on him when Kite appears being controlled. Also great reaction!

Christopher Rivera

Togashi has a restrained approach in his use of characters and action.

Killua X

The Gon and Kite scene is so powerful. My second time watching that episode and it def gave me the feels when Gon took all those hits just to hug Kite and tell him it was going to be ok. Pitou is both responsible for killing Kite and controlling him (it's her Nen). It's always cool to see characters level up (that's why we love shounen!) When Morel asked Gon to attack him, seeing the images of Kite flash in his mind before he started charging that Jajanken, Killua putting his hand on Gon's shoulder and telling him that's enough, and that display of power being enough to convince Morel that Gon was good to go (didn't even have to fight him like he asked)...chills all the way. I think you were thinking of HxH last upload when Meruem commented on power in the hands of imbeciles talking about that "king" whose palace he took over. Also, Meruem said something like that place was going to become their first human farm (Promised Neverland). I love how you said Shalnark went Super Saiyan, it was definitely a nod to Dragonball Z. Showing us the Troupe's fight against the ants in their home is a nice treat and a reminder that while the Chimera Ants are kinda OP, they're practically children with Nen compared to the battle-hardened experience of these hunters and troupe members. And did you like little Levi, I mean Feitan, dancing around the Hisoka Ant lady with his sword? Lastly, your hair looks really nice. I think it's growing back already? And please do 129, 130, 131 as a triple. Gonna start saying it this early on so it gets stuck in your head 😉. Edit: Our greedy asses did kind of mess up the flow a little bit with that last triple (though still much appreciated!). All good tho, there are many great (and a few GOAT) episodes in this arc.

Dany DLTV

These episode are just there to show that top Nen user can beat normal ants. Is great they use the troops since they didn't have to make a bunch random new characters just to show that ants are beatable. So it's a good treat to see the troop again.

Christopher Rivera

Yeah, should also note for clarity that Diego and East Gorteau are based on dictators like Kim Jong Un in countries like North Korea (the name Diego brings to mind dictatorships in Latin America like Augusto Pinochet, Noriega, Jimenez, and Fidel Castro). Bit of a parallel with the ant king Meruem being seen as a god by the ants, especially the royal guard and Diego as a reference to Kim in North Korea whose entire culture and society believes to be descended from divinity (or else). Also fitting the allusions of Meruem and the Royal Guard to ancient Egypt wherein the Pharaoh is considered a god or related to divinity.

Samir Larras

I won't lie. The first time I heard Gon and Killua are supposed to go after Pitou I went "How are they even going to touch her?"

Aj99

btw that little girl is actually a boy, thats why when she first met the ant soldier she referred to her self as "boku" which is usually for males. not 100% sure though

Christopher Rivera

She’s a biological male identifies as female, willingly or imposed? Heard it’s because Kikyo wanted him to dress up?! I don’t remember if that’s canon though.

coolkid558

Some clarification, as I said before, Pouf isn’t t be one controlling Kite. Also, the hunters aren’t looking to separate the king from the royal guards yet. As for what happened with Shalnark (the blonde haired guy with the antenna), from my understanding, you were basically spot on with your explanation. I certainly agree with what you said at the end. The ants have Nen but since they think they’re all kings and queens they already think they’re the top of the food chain, so they really have no reason to want to get stronger. If you’re having trouble suspending your disbelief for the guy with holes, best reasoning I can up with is the tribe he’s from knows the human body so well they know how to make those holes and angle them properly so they don’t hit any vital organs. Finally, I think it’s important to note that the ants believe they’re born with an express purpose, but have senses of individuality, and their own interests. I say this because considering the way ants view humans, they don’t care too much about humans being in their territory because they don’t see them as much of a threat. For example, Pitou attacking Kite likely had less to do with the fact he Gon and Killua going after the queen, and more with her just wanting to fight. I know you basically don’t even know I exist but I hope this helps.

I Like the fact that you tried to see things from Pitou's perspective, just protecting the colony from an enemy, Most reactors ignore that their only a few hours old and acting on nature

Kalluto is a boy, but he considers him a girl, in other words a transgender, and it is something that happens frecuently in the last generation of the Zoldyck Family, later in the show, you will understand better

JD

As far as I'm aware there's nothing in the material to suggest Kalluto considers himself a girl, you might be mixing things up.

Anonymous

As someone that grew up watching DragonBallZ, this was a breath of fresh air when I first saw this anime.

Anonymous

Bro, wearing a kimono, i think he consinders her a girl, if i'm not right, well it is just an assumption

Christopher Rivera

I interpret that whole scene with Gon letting Kite beat him as him wanting to be punished. He feels responsible for what happened and, as with Reiner, wants someone to judge him for his errors. Also similar to how when he was a little kid in the forest during foxbear season when Kite punched him, to discipline him. The manga also has a page in the beginning of each volume with some of the cast present during the arc. For Kite it says he’s like Gon’s big brother. Makes sense, mentors are like father figures, and Ging is Kite’s mentor. Kite’s more of a father to Gon than Ging was, that strong, male role model he yearned to have. A punch might seem harsh or the furthest thing from love but Gon always understood it as coming from concern (and Kite surely meant it that way). “The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.” - Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor “Men do not become fathers because they are fond of children.” - Thales, first philosopher in the Greek tradition

On Bonolonev's "Jupiter" attack, copy pasted from iamdesource's youtube channel: "Jupiter is a musical piece composed by Gustav Holst. It is part of the musical composition called The Planets in which he composed a theme for all the planets in our solar system. Jupiter's theme is very famous. When I heard the melody throughout the episodes I knew it sounded familiar, so to see that come to life with an actual technique that showed the planet was incredible." The classical music you hear in that episode is a rearrangement of this song (3:00 mark): https://youtu.be/Gu77Vtja30c?t=181 A conjurer ability that only works by performing music with his body, I think it's pretty cool, and the need to perform it to conjure anything (in this case, a "planet") is an interesting restriction.

JD

Again, whatever your personal theories are, you could do with deleting allusions to things not revealed yet in your previous comment.

JD

I really do not understand patreon, it deletes my comments sometimes without any clear reason why. The restriction or drawback of Shalnark's autopilot ability is that he's not conscious while using it, so anything could go wrong and he'd be unable to readjust or reassess a situation. It could be disastrous. It could get him killed. But he needed the power to break free from Pell and so was forced to use it.

Diego Zenhäusern

I mean, watching this for the first time that's my thought too and I can't see them winning if the show stays as realistic as it was so far🤔 To be honest: Getting away from her alive would be a hell of an achievement to me😅🙈

next episode would be awesome to watch her reaction, to me 96 and 97 are one of the best episodes to see reaction from people,

Anonymous

Regarding Bonolonev's "Jupiter" attack, it is the shock wave that generates its holes, and as it expands, it takes the form of a planet and Jupiter is the largest planet, which is why it has that name. not that it is a planet in itself. furthermore, the zoldyck family member "kalluto" is male, he just likes to look good and also loves to dress in kimonos. finally, in the world of hxh there are no stereotypes.

Cinya

Shalnark is basically releasing all his latent aura all at once. With the Knuckle fight we learn the aura contained in them is drastically higher than what they can output. Gon's output was 2000 for a single Jajaken but his total aura in his body was 21500 before passing out. I imagine Shalnark and Phinx are just using conditions to tap into more of their total aura pool. Not magically obtaining aura from the universe. Remember Hisoka's cards and when Wing ripped a page out of a book and threw it like a blade. Kalluto is surrounding her fan with Nen(using Shuu).

TheBagSenpai

About Shalnark's power, it's basically similar to Kurapika's conditions. He only uses it when he really must. Autopilot mode basically calculates the right amount of aura output he'd need to accomplish a particular task. The stronger the enemy, the bigger the price he has to pay once the ability is activated. So say, if he'd have to fight someone like, the King, and he resorts to this power. He'd need to literally give up his life just to stand a chance. That's the price that's required to accomplish that feat. On the other hand, this fodder ant only took some "muscle aches." Get the gist of it?

Radoras

like that you don't consider the ants evil just because the characters he kills are likable for us; guess we all maybe get a bit biased sometimes ^^' I think that, with showing other places where the chimera ants are & other, unrelated groups taking care of them, the world feels a bit more "alive", like it doesn't simply stop existing once the main characters are done with the place/people & leave BTW: looking good today 🙂
