Do you remember when Gon was being tortured by Hanzo for hours in the Hunter exam? They said he threw up so much from the torture that there wasn't anything left for him to throw up. Got his arm broke, wasn't fazed by the threat to have his legs severed, still refused to surrender. And why, because he felt like if he gave up there, he'd never find his dad. Nothing's changed. What seems like an easy decision for us - just try again in the next round of the exam, just stick to the plan they set for Genthru - to Gon, it's like he sees not giving it everything he's got, throwing everything away to *always strive forward*, whether it's winning his match versus Hanzo or trying out an idea he thought of to beat Genthru in a straight up fight instead of resorting to a trap... he sees not giving it his all as worse than dying almost.

I'm glad you went ahead with the review it was great hearing you gush about the episode and Killua 🥰

Not too sure why but I *really* enjoyed this reaction! It felt more streamlined and focused but didn't feel too unnatural or different from your usual reactions if that makes any sense. So please keep doing you! :D In any case, THIS IS NOT A DRILL PEOPLE WE HAVE ARRIVED AT EPISODE 76. I won't spoil anything but I will say that you should definitely pay close attention to character development in this arc, and I mean for *everyone*. The arc puts a lot of effort in developing the characters and their motivations and its part of what makes this arc one of the greatest. Can't wait to watch the rest of these episodes with you! Thanks for all the hard work!

OK, it would be really interesting to see which cards you would take back to the real world (this goes for anyone): https://hunterxhunter.fandom.com/wiki/Greed_Island_Card_Lists

This is why I didn’t want to explain angel’s breath. Fun reaction.

Reminder Bisky is this extra at 57 years old 😂

I felt the same way about Ging when I watched the first time. He must be a nice guy, since everyone they meet likes him, but I couldn't like him if he was gonna make his son go through hell just to even say hello in person, lol. Interesting fact about Dwun and his messy room: the room is pretty much modeled after the author's old room, garbage bags and everything. Togashi is sort of an odd fellow and would apparently just sit in his room like that and play video games on his small TV in the center. There's a picture of the room that people like to share a lot.

The theme of Greed Island is obviously greed. Genthru and the people hired by Battera were motivated by greed and they all lost. Gon's group won because they played the right way, not for the reward but for the game, because it takes more skill, and is more fun, to not just steal but to also understand how the game works and how to succeed in the various ways it requires. It’s the way he thought his father intended the game to be played or at least to be won (note: #75 Wild Luck Alexandrite was earned by giving up all their belongings, and of course, Ruler’s Invitation/Blessing was earned by understanding the game better than others). “Maturity is to have regained the seriousness of a child at play.” - Nietzsche When asked what card he wanted, Killua said: "I don't know I'm still thinking." And then he picks the card that helps Gon and keeps them together. It restates what was said in episode 37 when Gon and Killua were talking about what they wanted to do. From episode 37 (at Mito’s, lying by the campfire): Killua: “What are you going to do now?” Gon: “For now I’ll rest up here while I gather information. The information I’ll need before I go to York New to look for my dad.” Killua: “What should I do?” Gon: *gets up, startled* “You should stay here and then go to York New with me!” Killua: “Yeah, I’m coming with you. That wasn’t what I meant. I was thinking you’re sort of admirable. There’s nothing I really want to do. I don’t really have anything I want to do like you do. Though there are plenty of things I don’t want to do... I don’t want to stay in that house. Or inherit the family business. I guess I’m a little jealous.”

That's not the problem. The issue with Gon here is his insane recklessness and selfishness. He's willing to jeopardize the result of the mission just so he can have a fight against someone he was never supposed to win, and he even blew up his own hands without knowing it can be recovered. This kid has issues man..

Haha the ending of an awesome arc! Excited about the next one :) Thanks for the reaction!

Killua X

I can't believe we're finally here. Also kind of sad because I don't want it to end :(. So, I've been thinking about what to say when we got here for like 2 months. Next upload is the start of the Chimera Ant arc. IMO, the CA arc is like a whole anime on its own. It felt like it for me. I feel like if you approach it that way, it will make the experience better. It's different, it's long, there is some heavy character and plot development in the beginning (aka kind of slow at first), with some incredible payoffs later on. Thanks for doing this...my favorite thing about this reaction is seeing you really enjoy the episodes (I was kind of worried you wouldn't be able to). I could watch you fangirl over Killua all day. I like how you talk about how much Gon and Killua complement each other and remember how far they've come in this journey together ever since they were running down that tunnel in the Hunter's Exam 70 episodes ago. And you're right, if you look up 'friendship goals' there should be a picture of those two. I'll never forget how Gon kicked Genthru in the mouth knowing full well his left hand was gonna get blown off. That was the point in the fight when Gon truly won. When Genthru realized he couldn't defeat this boy's will and it scared the shit out of him. Thanks again for doing this. Your reaction is priceless and it's really great to see you enjoying yourself. Btw, Babu Frik is my favorite character from the sequel trilogy and that was a great impression.

I remember saying this in the comments of AP's reaction to S4 episode 5 of AoT: "He knowingly took out innocent people because Tybur declared war against Paradis. But we like Eren so it’s cool." That last sentence was actually a subtle reference to HxH, but I didn't want to explain it until Killua pointed it out in eps75 of the show (with Goreinu as a surrogate for the audience - "it's different because I like you" lol - great use of an otherwise forgettable side character).

Diego Zenhäusern

I knew about the card and didn't even consider it for a second 😅 However, I'll decide to see this as a praise to the anime, that I was prepared to believe Gon would actually have to suffer the consequences of his actions in such a physical way, instead of assuming that plot armor would take care of that issue!🤔😅

Diego Zenhäusern

Another beautiful gesture of their friendship, those two are really great together <3

Diego Zenhäusern

Hmm, I think I'd go for Liquor Spring (simple, straight forward and delicious), Chameleon Cat (I want a tiny elefant!) and Hormone Cookies (Definitely sound like an interessting experience)^^ What about y'all?

Just going a bit through the 100 restricted slot cards and I have to say that the writters did a good job of getting the 3 of them out of the game without giving them any OP cards, without making it seem just straight up illogigal or dumb🤔 Well, ok, as far as I can see Bisky actually managed to get the only card witout any special abilities at all, so that was a little dumb of her....but hey, she loved that jewel😂

Christopher Rivera

Yeah, and it’s really cool how Togashi made it so that Gon and Killua won without being overpowered (but still giving us training and action spectacles to go with the character development). Genthru’s actions actually made it easier for them to win as he took away the hard work of a group of players that had been playing for years. That and Battera’s reward no longer incentivizing Goreinu et al (Tsezguerra being a player for years), made it so they profited from earning his favor and trust. Gon moving the plot without force but interactions. That’s sort of seinen-like. Not winning through power per se but rather by being pro-social and building connections which is contrasted with Genthru’s shortcut through manipulation, and general antagonism. He wasn’t a great villain but he was significant in delivering the message in a bold way.

yo kel!

now that you are going into the chimera ant arc, if you can, you should always skip the intro until you get to episode 92. The intro reveals most of the main characters of the arc.

There is a lot of ambiguity in CA arc. To first time watchers: I’d recommend not worrying too much about understanding everything about it, it’s common for even repeat watchers to be confused about some things, including most fans. Also makes rewatches fun for me personally as even with (eventually) understanding a lot of it there’s other possible connections and interpretations (related to scenes within this arc and throughout the series). Because figuring it out is part of the fun, and part of why I’ve come to appreciate this series so much I will try to minimize my comments and/or be more vague (clues, not keys).

This is currently AP’s 4th most liked* HxH upload... the most for her Greed Island reactions too. But GI seemed to get the least likes out of all arcs. I wonder why? It was a really good arc and gets better on rewatch... guess it has a bad rep lol. I think this got so many likes due to Gon vs Genthru and anticipation for Chimera Ant?! *Uploads for 41-47 are the only ones with more likes.

Killua X

I would like to think it got so many likes because it was a great reaction and it seemed like she really just enjoyed watching the episodes and wasn't thinking too hard about anything. Also, I'll just be honest that I'm really out here liking every single one of her uploads like it somehow helps her YT algorithm or something 😅.

Hey there, I use to watch you when your old channel got deleted. Glad to see you are watching Hunter X Hunter which is my favorite Anime. Hope you have been enjoying it!
