They are trying to beat the game they just want to enjoy it the right way as well (a metaphor for life?) Sometimes sacrificing a useful card is worth the cards it will help protect or provide. They used “Contact” which isn’t required to beat the game either because it is a non-restricted slot card. To beat the game you need 100 restricted slot cards. Neon had her ability stolen by Chrollo. He can’t use it either but it’s in his book. Edit: Wasn’t sure if you knew all the above until I continued (was stuck buffering, posted in case I forgot).

It’s called Greed Island but you can progress in the game through acts of selflessness. Teaching the player that selflessness may* turn out to be in our self interest. And note Gon’s respect for nature, his kindness in not wanting to damage the tree.

Gon is constantly inspiring others to help him out (Kurapika setting aside his vengeance, or Nobunaga sparing him from Feitan) or to better themselves (Binolt, or Killua wanting to have his own goals and get his hunter license, Zepile, too). That’s why he’s the main character, he’s not the strongest or “coolest” but he’s influencing the plot through his affect on people (like all the way back when they got off the boat and the captain told him to go to Cedar tree, or Hisoka giving him his badge and sparing him the “initiation” ritual of Heaven’s Arena).

About your question after the last episode. The "special item" is just a leave card. And it's just useful to leave the game. For normal people is hard to get. That why they could trade leave card for valuable restricted slot card. Being Main Character you magically have many leave cards 😜. But seriously because it's fiction all the important characters seem to have leave card when they need them for plot convenience but it's supposedly hard to get. To win you just need 100 restricted slot card nothing else. Also the old guy will give 50 billions to the first team that win so many player want to win the game and get the money that why they try to prevent the bomber team from winning. Don't worry too much about detail of the cards. It's doesn't matter that much. For the most part they re-explain the important info as needed.

My entire comment got deleted again and all I did was edit once because I had an extra space in there 😡. Sigh...The gist of it was: I'm excited about WandaVision too, always forget it comes out the night before basically. Would love to hear what you think about the show so far! Don't worry about the card stuff, this is my 3rd watch and I still don't get it, but like I said before you don't even really need to understand it to understand and enjoy the arc. The card stuff is basically over anyway, there are two great "events" coming up. One of them is about to start (can't believe we're here already, the next HxH uploads can't come soon enough 🤤). It's pretty different and I hope you like it (I think you will). Lastly, don't sweat not uploading exactly when you say you might. I personally really appreciate when you make posts about what's going on and just that there's an upload coming. It gives me something to look forward to and you always come thru eventually and never disappoint with your videos. Thanks for that 🤗.

I never thought about this that much but you're right. Gon does drive the plot kind of through all the people he affects throughout the show. Him staying true to those ideals while developing his own character and so many other characters throughout the show is what makes him top tier protagonist.

There aren’t a lot of strong nen users in Greed Island to get card packs as easily as Gon and Kil are now apart from organized groups... the group Genthru betrayed were teamed up for that reason. Strong nen users usually have strong motivations and/or uncommon backgrounds, and as a result rarely care about money (unlike the weaklings back at Heaven’s Arena or the Shadow Beasts hired by the mafia). The Troupe, with their unique backgrounds, generally aim for increasing their reputation through chaos and destruction, accruing wealth in scandalous ways (and, Hisoka said, acts of “philanthropy” - perhaps funding programs for the poor in Meteor City). Killua and Gon both knew nen when they joined the game, but were too weak to collect cards, the "hunters" that you talk about are even weaker, they don’t have a teacher like Bisky nor Gon/Killua’s potential. So they are stuck, unable to beat the sailor at the port and can only afford one package of spells card a day/week so the chances of them getting it is really low and even in the off chance they get a leave card, or use it, we wouldn’t know. It’s also said many of them quit on the idea of even leaving. Being that hunters rarely care for money/materialistic things it makes sense a billionaire might be fooled into thinking the few nen users that answer his ads are something special. In short, it’s a plausible scenario given what we know. At least, Togashi spared us some exposition. Edit: Leave has a transformation limit of 30 cards... so that would make it harder for weaklings to steal, and incentivize hoarding copies for future use by strong players.

You speculated whether Chrollo stole powers meaning the victim loses them (back in the episode where he showed he had the ability in his book). Neon's dad said "restore Neon", and Neon said "why did it stop working" while trying to spin her pen the way that usually activates her fortune teller ability. All in all, in this instance, it seems Chrollo's act of stealing her ability does mean she can't use it any more. And all that has resulted in her mafia boss father no longer being able to make money off her.

I believe Ging's comment that you need a special item to leave was just saying you need to use a card to leave, you can't just leave by... y'know, leaving. Otherwise, yeah, 100 specific cards are needed to win.

Forgive the multicomments: Genthru was saying they should decide which 3 cards they want because when you win the game you can take 3 items from the game into the "real world", [edit] also the guy that hired a lot of these hunters is paying 50 billion to the team that wins, remember. An example of an item they could take into the real world - Memory Helmet: "You will never forget things you see or hear while wearing this helmet. Unfortunately, it's extremely large and heavy." And another - Panda Maid: "An endangered species. Very neat and loves to cook, and each has a hobby such as sewing or gardening. They are excellent at taking care of human children." And another - Book of Life: "An encyclopedia of everyone who's been in your life since your birth, with records of conversations and memorable incidents. It may end up being tens of thousands of pages long." I had to stop myself or I'd just end up writing out every single restricted slot card, there's some super crazy bizarre ones. It's cool to think that they really do what they say.

Look, don't worry too much about how 90% of the cards work. It's fun information to know, but it doesn't have any long term value. The show will remind you of card effects that matter when they pop up. But yeah, we're coming up on the climax for Greed Island so I'm excited to see what you think of it.

Memory Helmet sounds insane....it would be like suddenly being some kind of savant with a photographic memory xD And book of life sounds just impossible...I mean, how would the book know people you yourself probably can't remember from when you were a baby? Could it like read your subconcious or something? Or would it time travel to get the information?😂

Can I just mention how much I wouldn't be there to play this game myself?😅 I mean, deadly perils aside: I would just constantly be stressed out about losing cards, that I've just found, to other players....it would drive me insane and I could never enjoy finding a new card out of fear of loosing it again🙈😅

**(this comment is not in reference to the very next eps. just future eps coming up in general)** So, on the pacing (triple upload, staggered upload suggestions). I was waiting for Christopher to weigh in on this one as I know he has good knowledge on the flow of events in the episodes. I know we are coming up to some "must-watch-together" eps (especially in CA arc) but was too scared to comment about it 😅. To @AwakeProductions, IMO, at least for the CA arc, these suggestions that many are defo going to make in the future are NOT like what we did with the Kurapika and Uvo event. I'm prob talking about this too soon but wanted to plant the seed early. There are combos of eps in the CA arc that literally all reactors react to together (triple uploads) just...because (trying not to spoil). **TBH I will speak for everyone here and say that we (and most HxH fans) think about these combo uploads as early as when a reactor first starts HxH. Like how someone said it on another person's Discord, basically: as soon as a reactor starts HxH, it's essentially a countdown to "these episodes". So I would say, take your time, find a time when you are feeling up to it and ok with it and consider some of these suggestions. I think I speak for everybody when I say, we will wait an extra day or two or more for whenever you feel best to doing some of these suggestions (if you decide to even consider them at all). They really do make for the best experience overall for both you and us. Lastly, I'd like to add a pretty please and a cherry on top 🙏🍨❤️❤️❤️. (No pressure though, love you anyway no matter what you decide to do.)

Yeah. It brings up an important point they never directly said. If Chrollo steals a power, the original user can't use it anymore. It's not just copied, he literally steals it somehow (who knows how, but somehow lol).

My opinion is the 2 episode uploads are still appropriate for the upcoming and following events. Sorry 😐 But I would be fine with it either way. I just think you’ll save some of that momentum for the next upload since if you did a triple 68+69+70 then 71 lacks some momentum it could have if we paired 68+69 and then 70+71. Whereas the triple leads to 71+72 and 72 ends in a bit of a mystery which might annoy rather than intrigue. Also the following uploads are better going from even to odd numbered episodes.
