yeah sorry don’t get me wrong I don’t hate him but there's not a single cell in me that feels sympathy for Reiner. Great I felt bad knowing Reiner has a slightly sad backstory but after what I saw with Marcel and Annie that feeling was gone, maybe I felt a little pity for him but that's all

The King of the Walls will not retaliate simply because of the first king's memories controlling her. We've seen from the end of season 3 when the warriors attacked, Freida Reiss refused Grisha's request to fight back.

Yes I know but I’m referring to the threat that they made. They said that if they (Marley) tried to attack them, then the hundreds of titans within the walls will crush the world. Or something along the lines of that. I was just wondering what it would take for them to actually put that plan into action or maybe it’s just an empty threat.

Remember the story Bertholdt told Eren and Armin about his experiences during the fall of Wall Maria in the first season? He was telling the exact same story that the man who hanged himself in this episode told him, Reiner, and Annie. They left it out of the anime, but in the manga it mentions that man was the last person to survive from his village. The warriors used that village’s location to mask their origins, since nobody could prove them wrong. The amount of callbacks and small details in this series are amazing.

I don't remember if it was mentioned in the manga since I read that chapter more than a year ago but I think it was Reiner who hanged him in secret after hearing his story and made it look like a suicide. Even Bertholt doesn't know it but he realised the truth.

I want to point out a detail you missed in your reaction to this episode but I don't know if it counts as a spoiler. So all I'll say is that I'm laughing at the thought of you finding out about that detail later and going "D'oh!"

I really don't want to spoil something that I shouldn't. I've read ahead in the manga so the detail you missed was more obvious to me. I don't think it's meant to be a mystery but I don't want to put my foot in it.

I don’t see it. The only thing I can think of is that he kinda, maybe, might be Eren? I said that in the episode. But why would Eren rip off his leg and rip out his eye? Unless he just wants to meet falcon, the next inheritor of the attack titan. Or maybe what the topic of the discussion is? Maybe he’s trying to say all Eldians are sort of manipulated by the coordinate. They are all connected to it. Like maybe he’s saying you can’t fully fight fate? Idk.

If I say to much about why it would be a spoiler. But the obvious reason for the eye and leg is as a disguise. The eye lets him cover his face and the leg lets him blend in with other wounded and seem harmless.

When I was watching your reaction I was expecting an "Oh my God! That's Eren!" Instead I got "that guy looks like Eren".

😅 well his face looks kinda different since he’s so much older, and the missing leg and eye threw me off a bit, but the first thought I had was that he closely resembled him and that he is definitely an important character. I just didn’t know it actually WAS him. I wanted to be cautious and hold off before I jumped to conclusions. Looks like I should have this time 😅

Rest assured you're not the only one who didn't realise. The camera trick that was supposed to help clue you in was the fact that his face was kept hidden until the final seconds of the episode. It was meant to be a shock reveal but a lot of people didn't recognise him.
