Ah so many feels..these soldiers are rightfully considered monsters in many ways especially to the Ishvalans, but the truth is many of them have families just like anyone else and all they want is to spend a little time with them

I'd mostly agree with you but I have to say that watching it this time around it really infuriated me to see him speak for her in the automail matter :/

Well thats the question, can you call them monsters? I mean it comes down again to the same basic contradiction of soldiers and wars: Depending on who wins you're a hero or a monster. Depending on who wins you disobeying or you obeying an order will land you in prison or might even get you executed. Soldiers are drilled again and again to obey orders and repsect the structure. Not to think for themselves but trust their leaders. People often say that discipline is the only way a military can work, that a good soldier is someone who obeys the chain of command....and then all of a sudden you expect those people to think for themselves? You want them to step up and risk being imprisoned or punished for not following orders? I mean you can always say the soldiers know that their doing something wrong/ they're crossing a line, but can you really blame them? I mean where is the line? A normal person would get imprisoned for killing someone...but if you're in a war it's suddendly all fine? And can your really say that you would act different? Can you say that you would be the one to stand up and disobey, risking beeing the only one to stand up and being the only one to get punished? I couldn't guarantee that, so I don't have the right to blame them. Don't get me wrong: I wholeheartedly agree that what is happeneing here or in real life is wrong and despicable, but I think the only one who deserve to be punished and called monsters are high ranking officers that make the decisions and give the orders. In my eyes, calling normal soldiers monsters is jus hypocriticyal! Either you oppose the concept of soldiers and a military and try to get rid of it or you live with the fact that they are doing exactly what you want them to do: Fighting wars, killing people and obeying orders.
