I think Ling just finds it interesting or ironic behind the symbolism of how an alchemist, a scientist, and an atheist is “praying” to god every time he uses the power given by the same being who took his arm and leg.

As he mentioned in this episode, countless souls battle inside of him and only the most wrathful ONE survived. So, basically, he is a homunculus with only one soul, one life, that' why he ages.
