With police dogs they're trained with shock collars/electroshock therapy, but in this case we have a giant guard wolf (a naturally wild but forcibly domesticated animal) which would require much more severe measures to achieve the results we see with dogs (being already bred for obedience/dependence). Mike exhibits the same expressionless eyes as Illumi (along with same purple aura) which I think reflects the strict/abusive background of the Zoldyck children, i.e., their training. He also frightens Gon who’s never been afraid of wild animals (he befriended all of them on Whale Island), and who only felt fear towards the worst killers like Hisoka while not getting any chills when Johness the mass murderer appeared (in Killua’s words: “an amateur”). It’s like Togashi is telling us humans corrupt nature or that we can be more harmful than anything else in nature, even to each other, even to family.

I was confused about the doors my first time, too. I thought they doubled per set of doors like: 4, 8, 16, 32 tons (for 60 tons total). But Kurapika said it was 16 tons total so the pattern is +4 not x2, as in: 4, 8, 12, 16.

even if you looked like a cow, it would at least be a comfy cow :D no problem with "let's agree to disagree" on the whole authority vs individual choice thing; both have their pros and cons & neither will work if you take it to the extreme, at least you aknowledge that others' points are valid & you might not have all the information on that (which is more than many others admit), so no hard feelings there :) Just means you'll never fit into the military, which with your size wouldn't be a good fit anyway, so no issue there ;P And just putting it out there: again and again I'm amazed how immersed in the show & immotionally invested you get into the characters, reminds me again why I subscribed in the first place

Here is a fun plot hole someone found with episode 23 (and the corresponding manga chapter). Those cups that Kurapika carried without breaking a sweat would total at least half a ton per "plate" if you lowball the amount of cups. So by that point they should have been able to open the door if they worked together already.

Killua opened the third door though, 4*2*2 = 8*2 = 16 Edit: I might have misread you, did you mean that each door WITHOUT the previous layers weighs 4 tons more than the previous?

To be honest: I can't say, that I'm too surprised at how shitty Killua's family is. I mean, if you're an assassin, that basically already says that you don't give a shit about the lives of other people. But if you're then able to build up a family of assassins and raise a child like Killua that has no problems with killing people (e.g. the prisoner), admires your killing techniques (Killua told them awestruck how much better his father could have killed the prisoner), and sometimes just kills people to let of some steam (e.g. the two guys in the airship episode), that means that you have to be a fucking psychopath and have to have some fucked up "parenting methods", that desensitize your children to the death of other people from the get-go and will eventually likely drive them as crazy as you are yourself. Personally, the fact that Killua has enough innocence and sanity left to even be able to feel something like friendship seems like a complete fluke to me (I mean we saw how his brothers turned out). Also: When you asked why the guard would follow the orders I just thought: "Well, I mean, she works for a family of cold blodded, psychopathic assassins, so obviously she assumes they're going to kill her if she disobeys an order" I have to admit though, I didn't expect them to kill her that fast and cold blooded (especially since they didn't seem to punish the two guards for helping them opening the gate) and it came as a real shock to me, when it happened.

I love watching your reactions to hunter hunter as a whole, but seeing you watch killua's mother, couldn't help but think of the star wars scene with emperor... Good good, let the hate flow though you. Earlier in the series you wondered what the mother could have done to make killua slash her face... now you have scratched the surface.

loll you freak out wayyyyy too much while pausing the show instead of just finishing the episode.
