Kurumi

I think you miss understand Echinda doesn't love subaru lol. Like she said her soul has been held prisoner there..and with no one to talk to it was a rare opportunity to finally have a conversation with someone. Also she's actually an emotionless character despite how she acts or I should say she doesn't comprehend human emotions which is why sometimes her actions don't match her demeanor

Matthew B

The anime didn't mention anything about her being an emotionless character or that she doesn't understand human emotion.

The barrier around the Sanctuary prevents mixed bloods like Garfiel from leaving. He's trapped and wants to escape along with the other mixed bloods. Normal humans like the villagers can leave whenever they want. Garfiel is holding those villagers hostage so that Roswaal or someone allied to Roswaal will do the trial to take down the barrier around the Sanctuary.

Sam

Garfiel isn't working with or for Echidna.

It's such a different experience reading the books to watching the show. A book will simply describe what a character is thinking or feeling. Whereas with the show a lot of that information is communicated with facial expressions and body language. Which sometimes makes it harder to decipher the meaning behind character's actions.

Not exactly what I expect from the Witch of Greed but what can I say, people are complicated

Man I feel frustrated just thinking about the power difference between the witch cult and everyone else. I don’t feel like anyone other than Reinhard and maybe Julius in the kingdom stands a chance against other archbishops, let alone the actual witches should they be enemies.

A bit of info that was alluded to but was mostly left out of season 1 Subaru: "Witch...you mean the Jealous Witch" Beatrice: "What else would someone mean when they bring up a Witch". In the world of Re:Zero people refer to one person when they say Witch and that is Satella and most people don't know that the other Witches existed . And its the same with the "Witches Cult" they are called that because they worship the Witch (Satella)

True. And Japan's culture exercises high context speech, a lot of things they do and say are very indirect, people from a western culture often have trouble understanding

I was suprised as well to see Echidna act so...well...human when she's one of the witches; seems she's pretty lonely there & found it pretty endearing how she wanted to keep the conversation going & at the same time seemed like she tried not to sound desperate (at least how it felt to me). And since she seems to be obsessed with knowledge, that alone could help her to still influence the living world, depending on how much she knows & whom she tells what. Just an idea here, but maybe the barrier was originally designed as some kind of "trap" for Satella & she didn't think about if anyone else could get caught in it? I mean, Satella's body was a half-elf, so maybe it was aimed at her? I hope Emilia also just had to "face her past" instead of instantly failing...not that I don't want to see Subaru as the protagonist, but I'd like to see Emilia being able to handle some things on her own & not become a damsel in distress.

I think the word you were trying to think of was presume.

Again just a correction/reminder, Satella never killed Subaru before. She really loves him :) As you would know from having watched the newer episodes though. So she would never kill Subaru

Have u watch the ova "re zero frozen bond" , because i think u might get a gist of what happen on Emilia's past
