I don't think the Chinese federation was ever attacked by Britannia, logically they don't really have a reason to work with the Black knights. Interesting opinion about Rolo, I never really liked him but you changed my mind a little bit.

Fun fact, the song that's playing during Shirley and Lelouch's "date" (that starts right when Shirley is shown wearing headphones, and goes through the end of the scene) is the same one that played when Lelouch Geassed her in Season 1. "You're my destiny~"

You will either hate Rolo or feel sorry for him. Either choice has merit. He said "birthdays are important" and "family" with a feeling. Some foreshadowing for his future.

There are rarely a contradiction between Lelouch's words and his acts but although I love his character he really was a hypocrite in this episode. He got angry when his friends' memories were tempered without their consent but he bends other people's wills all the time. He erased a memory of his friend, he ordered Britannian soldiers to kill themselves, he ordered Suzaku to live who wanted to die as a punishment for killing his own father etc. And they are just the intentional ones. You can see that he cares about the people close to him but other than he just doesn't care at all.
