Its 1924, and iits a Mix of WW1 Setting ( in the beginning especially) and later in the Story ( mostly represent in the Light Novel Volumes after it, from what little Details i read) it gets more into WW2 Setting. A interesting small Information is, that the Author decided to change Tanyas Appearance and even Viktorias Appearance compared to the Light Novel. Tanyas Appearance in the Light Novel in Illustrations: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/youjo-senki/images/a/a5/Vol6clean.png/revision/latest?cb=20170119003736 In her current incarnation, the Light Novel describes Tanya as a little girl with a very petite build for her age that could be mistaken to be even younger. She has blonde hair, and her eyes are a cold blue. She has a fairy-like face, which looks ill when coupled with her pale complexion. Visha described her face as beautiful and doll-like, but giving off a vampire-like impression because of her sharp eyes. One more Thing that they NEVER mentioned in the Anime... The Reason why Tanya looks so aggressiv and " high" when she fights: As a child, Tanya didn't possess much physical strength. However, she is able to enhance her basic physical abilities through magical enhancement spells. This allows her to engage in proper close quarter combat and wield a rifle like any other soldier. She boost herself to the Maximum sometimes shortly before she goes into a Fight, especially if she fights against other Mages like she did in this Episode. About Tanyas Size: In the manga and light novel, she is seemed to be worried about her growth and even consult a doctor. She is told her growth is stunted due to being malnourished as an orphan and rigorous training as a soldier.

after she killed those mages, she had to say that little speech for military policy purposes

You'd be safe just referring to Tanya as a She. While she was originally a male she seems to have just immediately accepted the reality that she was now a female in this world and moved on with life. Also, you should definitely react to Seven Deadly Sins season 3, the story is still very good it's just the animation quality that took a nosedive.

Tanya is really princess Renner gone mad because she doesn't have Climb with her. The Empire (Germany) sent in a lot of soldiers against the Entente Alliance hoping to push them back, but the Francois Republic (France) mobilized their own forces outside of the Empire's prediction. If the Empire had only sent in fewer troops, they would have more reserves to better respond to the Republic. The Empire was not able to hold the Republic long enough for the main reinforcement to arrive, risking retreat and exposing the Western industrial areas, which is an important backbone for their war machines. It would not be accurate to say Tanya cared about her troops. She is like Lelouch, who sees them as tools for her goals. In her case, getting promoted. She got rid of those two disobedient soldiers without getting her hands dirty. She knows the pillbox would probably be destroyed, because she has a lot of knowledge about modern warfare from her previous life. She declared the statements to take in prisoners of war as a formal procedure. She likes to do things by the book so as to not get in trouble.

I read that her Character is a bit different in the Anime, nothing tragic, but still some Changes. Anime Version Though the anime follows closely to the original source, it markedly highlights the brutal and cruel side of Tanya's character. This could be seen from a number of differences in her monologue and action. In the first episode, Tanya purposely arranged the death of two insubordinate soldiers under her, while in the original source they were simply taken off of her platoon to prevent discord. She also behaves colder and distant towards Visha in the Anime.

"The Brass" - you guessed right. Higher ups. Probably because traditionally officer rank insignia was made of polished brass. "The Rhine Theater" - Theater is a fancy military word for a very large area of military operations. "Mobilization" - in this sense means a large scale draft of your citizens to build a large army.

Mathias

And The Rhine is a Huge River that flows in Germany and through the Netherlands into the North Sea. (Im to Lazy so i Copy the Wiki Link) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhine

My my someone didn't do her homework lol. Full disclosure I haven't read the LN, but i'l do what i can for the history/military/culture side of things. First: Whats going on? why are these people here? who is Tanya? why is she the only one praying (great job picking up on that) this episode is a teaser the next one starts at the beginning so don't worry about it. Is Tanya evil? does she care? Youre going to miss the sweet wholesome family man Ainz, because this is a pint sized Demiurge with blond hair, so cute. The world of this story is a close analog of reality the names of countries, cities and persons are slightly changed so are the flags, but the map and geographical features like the Rhine river are the same as IRL. Glossary: Brass- senior leadership, Empire-the axis alliance of Austro-Hungary and Germany, The Entente Alliance( pronounced ant aunt)- allied nations opposed to the Empire made up of; The republic- France (sometimes called the third republic) Albion-England (the old Roman name for the island) Sweden and Russia (forget the euphemisms they use in the show , Mobilization- calling up troops either drafting them or activating reserves. Limited Mobilization- get some specific number of guys not everyone. Total Mobilization- get everyone that can lift a rifle (the Germans called up a lot of troops much more then what the French thought they needed for a small operation in Serbia, the French assumed that this was for a much bigger campaign and started their own operations this was a mistake as the Germans weren't interested in a large conflict they just wanted to scare the Serbs, The Rhine-river valley near German French border famous for its many factories, important as a source of commercial and military production (after Germany lost WW1 France took (stole) it, some say the economic downturn caused by its loss contributed to Germany starting WW2) Pillbox- small fortification usually for a machine gun, Ace- a fighter pilot who shot down 5 enemy planes. Devil of the Rhine- Reference to The Red Devil a highly gifted German fighter plane pilot on whom aspects of Tanya are based (in so far as a samurai like aura of defeating tall odds and turning battles with individual skill), after the war he would be called The Red Baron.

This some fire!!!

André Bessa

It`s a good show, but it`s a little heavier than Overlord.

Tyrone Tyrone

You've got it! You're taking all the military language too literally and getting caught up in it. They use it just to be more authentic. Good job noticing she has a different pendant than the other soldiers on her side and noticing she wants a promotion bad. And one thing not to forget is Tanya is LeLouch level smart if not smarter.

Tyrone Tyrone

The dub isn't that bad although nothing can match Tanya tone in Japanese.

slimshadyone

she is far eviler than Ainz, just to let you know. surprise me that u don't react as you do to Ainz. well this a great show and the following episodes we learn about him Tanya the Evil.

YAY! And when you finish this you finally qualify to watch Isekai Quartet! :D

You really should watch the dub for this one, it will be so much easier for you to follow what's going on.

Fighting the enemy mages Tanya flew to an altitude over 10,000 meters, which is 32,808 feet. To put that into perspective she flew higher than the peak of Mount Everest (29,029 feet). People take weeks to acclimate, in stages, to the different altitudes when climbing Mount Everest. The air is so thin up that high that it can literally kill you and the air temperature at 30,000 feet is something like negative 48 degrees Fahrenheit. She literally just flew up high enough to freeze and suffocate to death.

Thanks cuz I was really trying super hard lol. I am so lost. Well not so much anymore cuz you guys are all helping me out majorly!! Ok so she’s an evil genius!!😈🤓
