I really think you are going to love this anime even with the part of trading explanations which as you can see is an important part but is not everything. Some are more abstract but others like the change in the value of the metal of the coins are easy to understand. At 10:04 I think that probably you had a very bad teacher at school and now only the mention of anything related with transactions shuts your brain hehehe. The thing is that in your current profession you will need to learn how to run a small business or you are going to lose money without even noticing. I think that if you find the right teacher you could find it interesting enough.

I’m still not sure how to take this anime. For now it’s just a cute anime with a slight romantic teasing from Holo but nothing overly serious. But I like it so far. Frieren is just on another level. I was surprised by the “wife” at first but I guess it’s better that way if they sleep in the same room. I think she totally does understand the concept of clothing. She is just teasing him to no end. She is pretty covered up when they are in public. I don’t think she would die. She seems to be very old. I don’t know since I haven’t watched it before but it would make sense that in the previous village they used all the wheat and grew some new wheat so she would disappear and reappear in the field. But I haven’t watched it so it's only speculation. Again speculation I guess a long time ago when she was asked to make the village wheat prosper she was linked to it. The place they are losing you. I think the money is tied to the regions. Like US dollars vs Euro but just small regions and Lawrence said I didn’t trade in any money so I’m not tied to the regions. The “rookie” merchant was sketchy as F. And his scheme with the silver coins, the same value coins but more silver, makes no sense whatsoever. Why would anyone use more silver to print same value coins? Also WTF did he try to remove Holo’s hood. That is not something anybody should do and especially not to people you just met 2 minutes ago. That great: The reason for the lie is more important than the lie itself. After Episode Well I’m good at letting thing pass way over my head Whooshhhh. 😅 I think the rest of the episode was cute enought to entertain me so far. I like Holo personality. She is very smart. She is funny to be with but teasing a lot I’m not sure we should take everything she said at face value. Ok fun episode. Take Care 😋

This show is whatevers for me at the moment. From what i read in the YouTube comments, it's going to go hard into economics, that's definitely not my thing.

The trading Lawrence talked about at the fire isn't that complicated once you wrap your head around it. He basically just traded some salt for wheat, but at a larger distance. Imagine you were traveling from Ohio to Utah and you wanted to get some ice over there but have no money. You stop by a Walmart in Ohio to give them a few jugs of water, then tell them to call a Walmart in Utah and let them know Walmart owes you some ice for the water. Lawrence basically did that with salt and wheat

Don't worry too much about not being able to catch on to the economics. Spice and Wolf doesn't really require you to thoroughly understand what's going on to appreciate the dialogue. You can just chalk it up to Lawrence doing something sneaky and getting away with it. Plenty of S&W enjoyers get by just fine listening to Lawrence and Holo interactions
