Wow. It looks like a political structure of LBSM world is much different from our own. In our world most sovereign eclaves are relics of the past. Some were spared when theigh neighboring tribes were assimilated into empires (e.g. he Principality of Monaco), some were created when territories were passes from one enpire to another but some settlements were not passed along. Cowloon's prototype ( http://goo.gl/RK47tT ) was created in such a way. In some rare cases new states are formed when part of the another state rebels (think South Sudan) and even then most such states are not accepted by their parent states for a long to prime (think Abkhazia or Northern Cyprus). There are most certainly no way for a company to become a state! Which certainly puts the pATAgon into an unchartered waters from legal POV: state-companies don't exist in our world and if anything their political reach becomes smaller over time, not larger. Zaibatsu were significantly more politically active in the beginning of XX century while even largest companies or our world (such as Apple or Exxon Mobil) today are not sovereign states. Google may wield huge influence around the world, but it couldn't even organize living quarters in the middle of their headquarters because it'll violate U.S. law! Now I'm intensely curious about that difference: what caused it? What are consequences? How could world where numerous sovereign companies (they are numerous or else theer will be no well-defined procedure) exist? Apparently police couldn't cross their border willy-nilly but what about normal citizens? The fact that such privileges could be “granted” (not “taken with weapons in the hands of future citizens”) will certainly change many things.

So, judging from the title image of this chapter we can assume that Than is somehow shut down. What I like about this page is that it demonstrates the degree of political strength of pATAgon, simply and concisely, and places the reader in a position to wonder the means of her downfall. We are shown that Than has influence over political figures, TV personalities and backing from globally recognised corporations. Cowloon may be a corporate state but we have yet to be shown the power they control. So we wonder, "How will Rhea and Alex beat her?" "Will Than's demise be brought about from just physically being too large, causing her health problems?" "Is Amelia a spy, planted to infiltrate pATAgon and use her legal knowledge to find an incriminating paper trail?" Only Zdemian knows. And I can't wait to find out.

I dont't think pATAgon will be shut down in this chapter: we only have three pages left. And I don't foresee any “physical health problems” in the near future. Than is certainly more thah large enough for that to be concern, but then Icarus allegory will be entirely inappropriate: Icarus had no health (or any other internal) problems, he just tried to fly “to high” and was parched by the sun! As for Amelia… not only she have gotten a name (rarity for Zedmian characters), but, more importantly, we've seen her extensive backstory which took half a chapter! That's more than most other characters have gotten. Even Alexis' backstory was much shorter—and she's one of them main protagonists: her shenanigans have given the name to the whole comic! She could be a spy or just an important witness, but yes, I'm pretty sure that we'll see her in the future.

I like the destruction of patagon by a pair of tits. By a jelousy Than. Just a tought. :)

Masterful! Wonderful story! As to, "what's happening?", remember that this isn't Now, it's Near-Future. Check out Neil Stephenson for an idea of how things will be. As to Than, I don't think she'll be beaten completely, but, yes, I look forward to her and her plots having some real problems because she's too big. At her overwhelming size, she can't really exercise control over pATAgon. She's far, far too large to be moved ... wonder how that will work out. What a great fable!

The Feds are accusing Patagon of using undue influence and skipping over required procedures in order to gain zaibatsu-like autonomy. If Patagon is located in the United States the government can halt the process.

I don't see why her size would make it problematic for her to really “exercise control over pATAgon” . Do you mean that she couldn't physically beat anyone since she's basically a prisoner of her own tits? That was not needed for a long time: most grenadiers were more than capable of kicking Napoleon's ass yet it Napoleon was “ruling them with iron first”, not the other way around. And as you've said: it's the future—we've seen that she uses figurehead extensively (and she could even have more than one), this should be more than enough to visit important meetings and snoop around. She could lose the ability to “exercise control over pATAgon” only if her health will deteriorate to the point where she'll be forced to divert her attention to her own health issues—that's always the possiblity, sure, but so far we've seen not even hint of such development. As for “she's too large to be moved”… this is to laugh! Of course she's already too large to be moved without thinking about route or bridges, but believe me: Than will need to become much, much, MUCH larger then her “The God-Empress of the Boobverse” picture to become COMPLETELY immobilized and rooted to the spot. When we've seen her last she was still small enough to be moved by Airbus A380 or Antonov An-225 Mria. She may pass that size soon, but on-the-ground and, especially, sea transports have much larger limits. Have you seen ITER's trailer ( http://goo.gl/ODthSW ), Taisun crane ( http://goo.gl/yp1hCn ), or Dockwise Vanguard ship ( http://goo.gl/yd0X0g)?

Even if it's not located in US government can halt the process. Think our world: when IMF and related organizations started talking about repeat of 1913th year (I mean creation of FRS) on world-wide level it's director was suddenly arrested by NY police over allegations of sexual assault. Oops. The end of story. All attempts have suddenly ceased. P.S. Note that eventually the case was dismissed ( http://goo.gl/Ch9C1I ), it have not changed anything at all, the process was halted anwyay. Perhaps if IMF did was wiser people did in 1910 ( http://goo.gl/84Zzux ) they would have fared better, but, well, pATAagon have gotten attention of Feds already which means it GOES DOWN. One way or another. It does not necessarily becomes extinct (hey, IMF still exists and it's still a VERY respectable organization, right) it just means it's ambitions are curbed.

...oh shit. Than... in charge of a city state? I do NOT like the sounds of that.

I love the sound of that because wherever she goes, big boobs follow
