OK, the gay dude gives me ick vibes, though he brings some valid points to the table - also, the woman defended (Maurice, maybe?), but I’m not going to pretend that it wasn’t out of her own selfish desires. I get the feeling the third dude isn’t inherently malicious, but is ultimately loyal to “the boss” whomever that may be, and is pulling strings to see their latest stragglers to come out unharmed. I also get the sneaking suspicion that the “other bat” they’re referring to is Jack - in which case, he still lives. Edit, because I almost forgot: given this new information, this is likely to be a underground colony of black bats.

There is also a possibility that the reason Jack and Maurice were captured is that those bats plan to use them as "pleasure toys" for both genders and "breeding studs" to produce colorful children. I suspect the baby was abandoned because it was too ordinary. This would mean the females would want unique children either for vanity purposes or to auction off for a large profit.
