2021 Recap (Patreon)

This is my third year in review. It's mostly a numbers post for those curious, or other potential game makers that want to see some of the numbers behind making a game.

Next year (lol hahaha) I'm going to put out the plan for 2022

First up is the money:

This will be the first year I make money off the game, which is pretty cool. Without your support this game never would have grown to the size it is!

Normally I talk about how many images or lines of code I've done over the year... I don't know the number, but it's a lot. Since I use layers, it's a few thousand images and lines of code.

What I really want to talk about is you.

During 2021 74,076 people from 178 countries have visited my Patreon page. Shout out to the 4 people from Madagascar. Misaotra anao nilalao ny lalaoko

It really turned into a world wide game. 

How you play:

Desktop: 71%

Mobile: 26% (65% Android / 35% iOS)

Tablet: 3%

Consoles < 1% (81 on Xbox, 30 on PlayStation 4)

I really didn't expect the 26% of mobile gamers. When the game is complete I'm planning on paying someone to export the website to a native app (APK for Android and an iOS if possible) I haven't yet because of the cost. The amount of time it takes to properly check for new bugs. And a fear of security risks in trusting a 3rd party in making a native application that has access to your phone. Your personal security and privacy is actually important to me. 

FYI: these are numbers only for the Patreon page which is naturally tracked. I have no idea who or how people play the game. There is no user tracking in my game code.
