Just a quick James Herriot for the Scottish lass, although this would have been in northern England. I'm guessing you have heard of him; a veterinarian back in the 1930's and 40's. Goes out to a local farm. Problem with a cow. Asked the farmer what was wrong with her. "She's nobbit firing on three cylinders!" Makes perfectly good sense to me!
