Note: This poll doesn't mean I'm making an Overlord game right now, I am just gathering feedback in order to write a Game Design Document for the future.

All the planned mechanics and content can be done in both Gameplay styles, even the time to make them would be almost equal. The only difference is how you will experience the game, for example while in both styles the Great Tomb of Nazarick will be explorable, in a Top Down RPG I could afford to put skeletons patrolling the catacombs to give some ambience whereas in a visual novel I would just put the important NPCs due to the lack of space on a single unscrollable screen.

2D Top Down Visual Novel

While the base game would still be a Visual Novel with all the ease of use features one would expect (Skip, rollback, saving during dialogue, ...) some locations would be explorable in a classic top down RPG view, such as the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

This would not exclude the existence of some backgrounds for locations that would be pointless to explore (Such as a road or some woods), this means the game would not be a full top down RPG as I do not want to add pointless locations as it would be a waste of time for both me to make, and the player to play through.

While I say RPG, there will not be items or battles as those would be pointless here, this is just to give you an idea of how the game might look and play.
There are some exceptions such as Gate Spell, or the Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown to allow the player to easily teleport around without having to walk around.

Even if you decide to walk around, the locations will be as small as possible in order to abide to the basic rules and common sense of mapping.

Sandbox Visual Novel

The game would fully play as a Visual Novel, and during the sandbox segment you would be able to select a location which displays a background with clickable elements, such as items and characters (For side events, or continue the main storyline).

The perspective would be different from Overlord H, so with no tokens, some cutscenes will rely more on text description.

In both, CGs such as hentai scenes will contain background as I do not like the contrast between the top down perspective and the first person view which will be often used in those scenes.

The locations with new content will be marked, but in both they will persist as they will contain repeatable events and NPCs giving different speech depending on which point of the story you are in, but not important enough to be marked as new.

Sorry for the off-topic!
The poll is unrelated to the current and next project, so it was made public.
Since I need to write this stuff down much ahead of time, and both styles would work with the same effort and amount of time, I figured I'd let you guys pick your favourite rather than randomly picking one myself.

Thank you for your time and vote!
