Activating Rubedo... (Patreon)

Shortly after the invasion arc, you will be finally activating Rubedo.
She has been mentioned various times throughout the game: It is in fact one of the first things you discuss with Victim at the very beginning.

Unfortunately no official Rubedo design has ever been confirmed as far as I am aware, I was hoping she would get an official portrait by the time I'd reach this point, but alas this did not happen; This means even though she is one of the main cast characters, she will have a custom appearance.


I do understand that everyone has their vision of what Rubedo may look like, so let me detail my train of thought when I thought about her physical appearance:
At first I was tempted to make her a redhead, after all, it is right there in the name... However, I have thought how Albedo does not have white hair, but white clothing instead; Likewise, while Nigredo has black hair, she has also black clothing.

By comparing the two sisters, I have therefore decided to follow their design and do the same for Rubedo: Black hair like her sisters, but Red clothing with some yellow.
The yellow in her clothing comes from Citrinitas, a component required for the activation of Rubedo (It will be more clear in-game, I do not want to spoil too much!).


What is up with the wings?
Rubedo, at least in this game, is an angel.
I like the idea of having a trio of sisters which are complete opposites of each other: Albedo (Demon), Nigredo (Fallen angel), Rubedo (Angel).

I think she might be having a few racial levels of automaton/construct/golem for the activation process, at least that is what I had initially thought, but in the game the activation would work even if she is just an angel disabled through magical means.
Since race/statistics do not really matter much in this game aside from aesthetics, it does not really matter much imho.


Last but not least, I have included a few extra details like a sword (She is a melee fighter) and tied up hair for diversity, but also because she would not want hair to get in the way of a fight.
