Saladin & the 3rd Crusade - A Crusade's End - Extra History - #5

Things look bleak for Saladin. Richard III had returned and the Lionheart can be seen right outside Jerusalem. Internally, his coalition is starting to fracture. There are divisions amongst his advisors and amongst his soldiers. He's certain that this is the end. But his camp isn't the only one troubled by desperate divisions. The Crusaders are beginning to see cracks in their structure as well. Who can outlast whom? I cannot help but notice bean people are lacking in a few body parts ~ i.e. a neck and arms.

The Big Tragedy between Saladin and Richard is that the two shared one last letter exchange. Richard said in his letter that Saladin had proven himself both a worthy opponent and a king greater than most of his rivals back home. And he wanted to come back to Jerusalem, to meet Saladin in person at last. Saladin responded with that he had found Richard also a worthy opponent and hoped to meet Richard as well, and if Richard wanted to come and take Jerusalem again, he would be happy to face him on equal terms. Sadly, Saladin died 6 months later. And Richard never came back to the Holy Land, being too busy sacking Europe to finance his army. He would eventually die 6 years later from gangrene caused by a crossbow shot. He lasted a week after being shot and even pardoned the shooter, giving him 100 shillings as a reward. His men, however, found and flayed him alive after the king had died.

The description of the Video on YT says Richard III, but if i don’t have my facts muddled up, Lionheart was the first, was he not? Just a little nitpick :)
