There is a certain kind of irony to opening a series on the Bloodless Revolution with an assassination.

(It was not, in fact, bloodless)

End of the Samurai - Black Ships - Extra History - #1

The end of the samurai came as Japan was forced to open its borders to foreign trade and policy, ending a long period of isolation. And that period flipped everything over. Suddenly merchants who had the least amount of social standing found themselves with a huge monetary advantage. New districts with theater and arts rose that paid no heed to the old caste system. And this did not sit well with a faction of the samurai. It's called the Bloodless Revolution by history, but this series will show... it was anything but. @ExtraCredits, please include this in Lies. Around 4:57, you include the Chōsokabe clan of Tosa in the graphic for of "the historical enemies of the Tokugawa in the south." The Chōsokabe were overthrown after the Battle of Sekigahara, and the Tokugawa Shogunate installed the Yamauchi clan as the new daimyo of Tosa. The Chōsokabe clan were effectively destroyed after siding with Toyotomi Hideyori during the Siege of Osaka (after the bell incident described in episode 6 of the Sengoku Jidai Extra History series).
