This is one of my favorite myths mostly for how many times it's been retold and reinterpreted. Are Persephone and Hades a hostage situation or star crossed lovers? Demeter a doting mother or over protective matron? A mixture of both???

What's your favorite take on the story?

Persephone & Hades - A Match Made in Hell - Extra Mythology

The famous story of the seasons, Persephone and Hades. A romantic kidnapping that ended up creating a situation where Persephone has to spend half of her time in the world above and half of her time in the world below. This story may be one of the most retold and reinterpreted myths for a long time, from Hadestown to Lore Olympus. And as a bonus, hey this is also where sirens first show up, though they're much more aerial and less aquatic from their usual representation. to be honest, Zeus didn't want Hades to marry Persephone because he had his eye on her

Bright Ops

I'm just going to say, Zeus doesn't exactly have a good track record when it comes to women. Hades getting his advice, not the greatest move... but then again, he didn't force himself on Persephone; Hades legit wanted her to like him so... better then Zeus is nothing else.

This story is always fascinating to me because of all the different variations on the myth. I always, admittedly, prefer the version of this where Persephone is kind of in on it and is trying to get away from her overbearing mother.

So... some priests got together and said "We have to come up with a story that explains Autumn and Winter. How about if we say that the God of the Underworld kidnapped his niece and took her to the land of the dead? I think that'll work until the philosophers get around to developing Science."

Her name was Kore as a young girl but then when married changed her name to Persephone, “bringer of destruction and death”...

... and just as I was thinking how awesome it would be to name a puppy Persephone— Yikes!
