How about you all? What are some ways you can think of to design more intrinsic rewards for things instead of just a series of level up bars or achievement shields?

I really hope we can see better gamification in the future; it's something that has so much great potential

Gamification is so much more! I live in Canada now but back in Hungary we have a non-profit volunteer organization called "Láthatatlan Egyetem" (Invisible University) providing training on subjects not taught in school. One of the subjects is Gamification. We go with the Octalysis model, talk about what each facet means, gather examples, talk about when to use which and why, and gamify projects the trainees bring. We even talk about how we are manipulated by them already, and how to do it ethically.

I’m going to utilize these ideas for my kid’s at-home schooling.

I don't know. I think I'm so used to both extrinsic and intrinsic rewards that I'm a bit like a fish who doesn't give much thought to water being wet. And I'm tired and distracted. But I loved this episode.
