THIS IS PATREON!!!

I expected the Persians to be wearing Sock and Buskin Masks and having the Spartans killing 10 Persians per second. Maybe 300 is a bit... exaggerated?

The Immortals got their nickname because there were always 10,000 of them. If one fell in battle they would replace him with another elite soldier. Supposedly they wore masks to hide their identities so people would believe them unkillable...but that’s either myth or propaganda.

Why do the Persians not have ANY heavily armored infantry? it seems that normally an army doesn't need that many fast infantry troops just some to screen the flanks and act as a reserve force or pursuing. Even if most of your army is light infantry due to cheapness??? it seems that you really need at least some heavy infantry to 1 hold a position for your king as demonstrated during the battles of Issus and Gaugamela And as demonstrated at Marathon a heavily armored infantry really could just smash the more lightly armored infantry in a head to head battle.

Twitch Presents classic Doctor Who marathon has pushed everything else aside, which is why I'm so behind on Patreon goodies. Sorry. Thanks for making sure to speak up for the contributions from both sides, from which we all benefit, now. And thanks for pointing out the complexities.
