I suspected Jamukha would Regret making Genghis his Blood Brother. BRING ON THE BLOODSHED!!! That's the only other thing I have to say.

I remember from a history class in college, my professor saying it was ironic that the 'great' civilizations of Rome and China called other society barbarians and looked down on them for reasons that we see as good qualities. Rome thought Celts and Germans were weak-willed because they're women had more rights than Roman women, often equal depending on the tribe. Han Chinese thought Mongols were barbaric for having a more open, meritocratic society when in their minds their 'cultural superiority' meant that others should try to be like the Han.

I'd love to see you guys partner up with kings and generals channel one of these days to do a joint coverage of a series of events. They provide good detailed accounts of historical battles whilst presenting the possible divides between historians and you guys are great for historical context.

Is it true that in his later years his soldiers was willing to sacrifice them self strategic in battle?

I love the steppe concept of "trouser children" (which is how Temujin claimed Jochi as his child). Because the men were often out raiding or managing the herds far from the family, monogamy was not rigid. A man would hang a pair of trousers from the door to the yurt while he was gone, indicating that any children born to his wife was his child (the magic of trousers). Jochi's legitimacy was questioned in part because he wasn't a trouser child.

Yep, Jamukha himself was better military commander than Temujin at the times, and defeated him in several battles which will follow in the next episode.

The greatest irony is that without Jamukha there would have been no Genghis Khan. The hardest battles Genghis Khan have fought was with Jamukha, Temujin had to learn shit ton of stuff, gather more people, reorganize his army, create new system of governance and new battle tactics just to defeat Jamukha. Either way both men were great leaders who are respected in Mongolian history, Jamukha was arguably a better warrior and slightly better strategist, where as Temujin was greater diplomat and more cunning

To be honest, Chinese named everyone as barbarians who were not like them. They even had their own classification of barbarians that also labeled British Empire as "barbaric".

Why does Temujin decline on Khan's offer of a position? and why is on Khan suddenly so caring of Temujin upon receiving a gift when previously he didn't care if Temujin was alive.?
