Khosrau Anushirawan - Lies - Extra History

Why did we refer to Khosrau's empire as Iran, not Persia? Did Mazdak really exist, or was his proto-communist movement pure propaganda? Dan (narrator) and Soraya (writer) tackle these questions and address the large issue of how perspective can shape one's idea of the truth. I would love to create a cartoon that covers an alternate reality where Justinian and Khosrau cooperate. :)

After Khosrau there were 18 more Shahs of the Sassanid Empire [or 19 if you Include Bahram Cobin, who Rebelled against Khosrau II] The Final Shah, Yazdegerd III, was Murdered by a Miller who Robbed him of his Clothes and Jewelery after being Defeated by the Muslims at the Battle of al-Qadisiyyah. When the new Abbasid Caliphate began Building their new Capital City ~ Baghdad ~ they Moved most of the Population of Ctesiphon to Baghdad and used Stones from Ctesiphon to Construct the City, and soon Ctesiphon became a Ghost Town.

I don't like this... Dan needs to go to back to being a cartoon!

I didn't know that Iran and Aryan are the same thing?

Anonymous

I'm pretty sure Genghis Khan was partially responsible for all that loss of knowledge since his heirs were the ones who tore the place apart and leveled the Grand Library of Baghdad.

Related and probably from the same linguistic root. However, Aryan refers to the people who migrated from Central Asia into northern India ~3000 years ago, as well as the languages they spoke. So Aryan is more like referring to Pakistanis and Uttar Pradeshi people than to Iranians. Both Iranian and Aryan languages are part of the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. The Aryan peope are associated with Vedic religions, the two largest of which are Hinduism and Buddhism. Sanskrit is the oldest Aryan language still used, though only for ceremonial purposes.

Have not realized until now, that you have been making shorter lies episodes for awhile. Thanks for that. I used to skip them, because they felt too lengthy.

Anonymous

Maybe because they're lying less and less also... :p

Is it possible to have some books (or other sources) advice related with each topic from now on ? For example the other day I was looking for a book on Ned Kelly, of course I started by checking on EC videos but I didn't find any suggestion. It could be nice to have your personal little selection of interesting books for people who are willing to go into more details.
