D-Day - Lies - Extra History

Sponsored by Wargaming! New players: Download World of Tanks and use the code NEPTUNE for free goodies! http://bit.ly/2tXMg0B D-Day is too vast and important a topic to be completely covered by four short videos, but we hope our series offered some new insights into the massive effort that went into the Normandy beach landings. James Portnow and Richard Cutland, Wargaming's Head of Military Relations, take some time to chat about some more important D-Day stories. you should have called this one: D-Day the Wargaming Advertisement. It did not feel like a Patreon perk to be honest. Just like a quick recording of a video conference with bad sound and video quality. I love the concept of the "Lies" episodes but I did not see anything resembeling this here.

ExtraCredits

It's not a Patreon perk. It's a publically available video that we made as part of our partnership with Wargaming. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, but aside from introducing Richard and including a code for those who want to pick up the game, we used the same format that we do when James and I (Soraya) film a Lies episode, which is to say that we had a list of questions related to the episode and the two people on screen discussed those together. Since Richard lives in London, and James lives in Seattle, recording a video conference call was our only way to put them "in the same room," so to speak. It's our first time doing a Lies episode for any sponsored series and while none of our Lies episodes are perfect I was personally happy we had the opportunity to go back and talk more about things that got glossed over during the main series, such as the role of Polish in cracking Enigma.

~scratches head~ I can't say I'm fond of this video layout. The weird blurry background seemed unnecessary. Maybe I'm missing some technical detail though.

Anonymous

The video here is unnecessary altogether - it might as well be a still frame of James and Richard as 'bean people', with audio overlaid.

What happened to the Lies Episode for the Age Bronze Collapse Series you just finished?

Ah - I remember this one from previous posts. It's still coming, it's just going to be after the two one-off episodes. The first one off was the Alphabet one, so - expect it towards the end of next week.

Kind of a shame you guys couldn't get Nicholas Moran. I personally like his presentation style more than Richard's.

Richard is so charming and British and has such beautiful blue eyes! I can't say I'm sad to have worked with him.

Love it!
