Hey patrons!

I'm very excited to share my next video with you because it's the start of something I've been conjuring for a while. I don't want to share my thinking process with the public because I don't want to people to "overthink" about my thinking… if that makes sense. ANYWAY, here's what's going on…

This may sound like a brain dump, but that's because… it is. I've only discussed this idea with one other person on the planet—my friend and co-producer: Brent. Here's the scoop…

Krazy Ken's Tech Misadventures will still continue! But I want to take on more creative and challenging tasks. I want to teach myself new things, and make tech video logs which will attract more viewers and give them more value. But that's only part of the plan…

I'm also working on a "semi-spinoff" of Krazy Ken's Tech Misadventures called: Krazy Ken's Tech Talk (the above image is a preview of the intro sequence inside Motion 5). It's still me, it's still in "the lair", it's still in the Krazy Ken universe with the Krazy Ken brand… but with a twist. The twist is: a new, polished format!

What is the new format? We'll get to that in a sec. First let's talk about why the new format.

Recently, we've received surges of new viewers, and those surges are not coming from my typical week-to-week Krazy Ken episodes. I've spent lots of time looking at the numbers (YouTube channel analytics) and it looks like my "tech video log" format is plateauing in terms of performance. Again, I still want to do tech video logs, but if I do them, I want them to be more creative and challenging, in an effort to gain (and retain) new viewers! But I also want to do this new format, which will run alongside Tech Misadventures.

Okay, so back to the new format (Krazy Ken's Tech Talks)…

I've noticed our STRONGEST performing videos (looking at view count, audience retention, like ratio, and positive comments) come from 2 sources outside Krazy Ken: the curiosity-driven tech topics in our TidBytes series, and the high production value of Vintage Apple Vault.

So I thought… what if we took the best parts of Vintage Apple Vault and TidBytes, and combined them with the Krazy Ken universe? <<< THAT is what I've been working on the past several weeks. I'm not reinventing the wheel; I'm merely taking the best pieces from things that work, and shaping them into something new.

Krazy Ken's Tech Talks will focus more on tech topics that drive curiosity (e.g. "The History of XYZ", "Remember When ABC Sold XYZ", "What Happens if We 123?"). The new format will be much more polished (especially compared to the "raw" style of Tech Misadventures). Everything will be more lively… more b-roll, more movement, music, motion graphics, animation, and other subtle things that elevate the production value 300%.

Bonus sneak peek: Here's an inked sketch of a new thumbnail idea! I'm learning more about how important thumbnails are, so I'm upping the production value of those, too! This particular episode will feature Steve Jobs disliking an idea which ultimate evolved into a revolution!

So that's the plan! But with that, I'm also pursuing other ways to grow the channel more. I've never been great at networking, but it's time to bust out of my comfort zone. I'm working with other YouTubers so I can learn more, and build some new collaboration projects. Hell, I'm flying out to Anaheim (for my first VidCon) and I'm forcing myself to network with other creators!

Phew… so there you have it! It may take a couple episodes for us to get our footing, but I'm confident we need to pursuit this video style for the channel's growth.

Thanks for your support! Cool stuff is coming.

UPDATE: TL;DR doing cool new $h!t with the Krazy Ken universe, and for Tech Misadventures, I want to take on more creative and challenging tasks!
