Double!! YES!

They extracted the pararaid implants from Shin and the others and used the tech to develop their own devices. In ep 12 or 13 when we meet Ernst for the first time, he was talking to some military and scientists outside that weird chamber where they Isolated the 86 and one of the few things they said was how amazing those devices are.

Ep16 gave me chills. The joy of seeing our squad reunited with all their upgrades kit, the terror of Shin’s fall, the sorrow of Lena and Jerome’s last moments, the epic reveal of Lena’s project… what a jam packed episode! And then to drop that cliffhanger! The production team nailed it.

Again, thanks for reacting to my most memorable show in recent memory.

It's not just the 86 in Reginleifs, it's also other foreign pilots like Bernholdt. The "standard military doctrine" that Wenzel is trying to break from is strengthening existing units by attaching Reginleif pilots, including the 86 members to them (increasing the survivability of the unit as a whole), and proposes the concentration of a small elite force to use as a "firefighter" force to quickly engage in problem areas.

There are so many things I freaking love about this series that I really couldn't get to because I typed the last post on my phone. First, the growth of Lena from the innocent, privileged, literally snow white princess to the Bloody Queen is just marvelous writing. Yes, she is still the sweet girl we've seen in the first few episodes, but she's been hardened and tempered and sharpened like the sword of Saint Magnolia. She's not espousing principles, she's actively working and fighting for them. It felt like natural character growth, and not forced writing. Just to show how much she's grown, during her final confrontation with Uncle Jerome, it was the first time in the series they didn't have distance or a desk between, and also it was the first time they were on eye level (granted, Lena had to be on the step, but they were eye to eye.) Princess Lena would have folded. But not our Bloody Queen. The reveal of who sent the letter is... next episode?... but alas, it wasn't Frederica. Which leads to the really grand look at what being the Shinigami for so long has done to Shin. He honestly believed he escaped that fate for a little while, and honestly, was just marking time, until he befriended Eugene. And when his badge of office was finally returned to him, the pistol, the first use of it was... yeah. Shin was already teetering on some rough mental states, and now we're seeing a nothing-to-live-for, berserker Shin which it truly terrifying. Thanks to this watch-through I noticed something about episodes 13 and 14 that has escaped me until now. During Shin's nightmare in 13, he's standing on the train tracks (a HUGE piece of symbolism for the whole show) and behind him, in silhouette, are the wrecks of the Juggernauts they escaped in. In episode 14, when the monument was revealed, the Jugs were positioned to match up with that silhouette! I can only assume it was intentional, and not some cost saving maneuver. Lastly, trapped moths are going to be a big symbol in the rest of the arc.

You write great insightful comments, but please don't mention things that are revealed "in the next episode" or later. It's a spoiler to Tee and those who watch along with him
