Not native Japanese but I know enough to answer this. "川" (River), the final kanji in Odokawa's name, has multiple readings (as does most kanji). Commonly kanji will have a most common reading when the kanji is written alone, such as "川" being read as "kawa" when on it's own, but being read as "gawa" when read in a larger word, such as in "山川" meaning "mountain river". This isn't a rule of sorts, but there is usually a common understanding or guess of how a word should be read. This often means names can be confusingly read.
