Loved your reaction and analysis! Seeing Akko fly here after watching the series is actually kinda weird, isn't it? And the animation of the OVAs is so freaking good! Even if I do prefer the characters and plot of the series. Also, when Sucy said "It's like a crappy dungeon crawler RPG"... I guess that's where they got the idea for the videogame lol (you should look up the cutscenes from it though; they were animated by Trigger and are really good).

Really impressive work. I went and compared the Chariot scene in the beginning with the actual series. It is really impressive how they cut down the production cost but still it remained quite fluid and nice to look at. The OVA was on 2s most of the time with switches up to 1s and down to 3s. The series was on 2s and 3s split with some 1s and even 4s in it. That's the real test to animate something with such different frame rates and still keep it looking good. A lot of shows cut down the framerate and then it looks like a slide show. Also a lot of trick to save animation time. The scene in the OVA where Chariot hops onto the broom was not done but instead of just cutting to the scene where she is on the broom they put in a nice white explosion, much easier to draw but still keeps the energy flowing without looking cheap. I think thats even more impressive and the real tests. A lot of people can make nice animation on free budget but the real challange is to do it on low frame with limited time, so you need to know your business. So I am even more impressed with the series. But yeah this was really cool and I really wished they had the budget to do a full time movie with this quality. Let's see what they do with a 50min length OVA next week.

^It might not be this impressive for the whole 50 min- I forget, but if I remember they raised funding to get the ova made so I dont think they had a big budget for it.
